The Public Theater, Tony Kushner and Jeanine Tesori will produce COURAGE IN CONCERT, a one-night-only benefit concert reuniting Kevin Kline, Jenifer Lewis, Austin Pendleton, Meryl Streep and Frederick Weller for an evening of songs from the Public Theater?s 2006 Shakespeare in the Park production of Brecht?s masterpiece, Mother Courage and Her Children. Translated by Tony Kushner with music by Jeanine Tesori and originally directed by George C. Wolfe, COURAGE IN CONCERT will be performed at the Public Theater on Monday, October 19 at 8:00 PM with all proceeds benefiting American Jewish World Service and Partners In Health. The cast of HAIR along with special guests will complete the evening. Tickets go on sale on Thursday, September 17.

Walt Disney Pictures will present a return to the studio's traditionally-animated musical films with 'The Princess and the Frog', which will be released nationwide on December 11th, 2009.

At its annual awards ceremony GLAAD recognized Prop 8: The Musical, a video created for FunnyorDie.com in response to the passage of Proposition 8, a California ballot initiative which eliminated the right to marry for same-sex couples. Directed by Adam Shankman and written by Marc Shaiman, the video received over one million hits on its first day online. During the show, Miss Coco Peru and the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles performed the song live onstage. Shankman accepted the award on behalf of the team of creators.

The 5th Avenue Theatre's production of 'Hello, Dolly', while holding onto the charm of the show, at times felt like it was marching through Jello. Starring the always wonderful Jenifer Lewis, the show was, on the whole, enjoyable, but really seemed like it could have used another week of rehearsals.

Brimming with exuberant songs like ?Put On Your Sunday Clothes,? ?Before the Parade Passes By,? ?It Only Takes a Moment,? and of course the title song, Hello Dolly! celebrates the exuberant philosophies of seizing the moment and spreading one?s wealth around.

Walt Disney Studios has released new images from the upcoming traditionally-animated musical film 'The Princess and the Frog.' The upcoming film will be set in New Orleans and feature the Walt Disney Studio's first black princess. Oprah Winfrey recently joined the cast as Eudora, the mother to Princess Tiana voiced by stage and screen star Anika Noni Rose. The film also stars such stage (and movie) greats as John Goodman, Jenifer Lewis, Keith David, Michael-Leon Wooley and Peter Bartlett. Producers of HAIRSPRAY, the Tony winning Best Musical, have announced that the show will close on Jan. 4, 2009.

Playwright, performer and activist Daniel Beaty has been creating a community-wide buzz with his acclaimed one-man show Emergency that has enabled the Geffen Playhouse to produce a special week-long extension aimed primarily at Title I public schools (three additional performances will also be added for the general public). The production will now close at 2pm on Sunday, June 1.

The producers of Hairspray have announced that Jenifer Lewis will join the Broadway company on Tuesday, April 22, in the role of Motormouth Maybelle at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre, 250 West 52 Street.
