Last night, November 1, the Casting Society of America hosted the 26th Annual Artios Awards®. The bi-coastal award ceremonies were held in Los Angeles at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel, hosted by Lily Tomlin, and at the American Airlines Theatre in New York. Joe Dowling of the Guthrie Theater and Margot Harley of The Acting Company have announced an expanded touring season beginning and ending in New York. This will be the third joint tour for the two TONY-winning theaters and will feature co-productions of Shakespeare's ROMEO AND JULIET directed by Penny Metropulos in repertory with THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, directed by Ian Belknap. Ms. Metropulos has directed at Oregon Shakespeare Festival for 19 years; Mr. Belknap, Associate Artistic Director of The Acting Company, has apprenticed under several master directors including Mark Lamos and Doug Hughes.

Justina Machada (HBO's Six Feet Under and Broadway's , In The Heights) and veteran actor John McMartin (Follies, Into The Woods, Showboat, Sweet Charity) will join Paul Dano, mos and Jeffrey Wright in the production, to be directed by George C. Wolfe.

Lincoln Center Theater has announced that the first preview of its upcoming production of A FREE MAN OF COLOR , a new play by John Guare, directed by George C. Wolfe, has been rescheduled to Saturday evening, October 23 at 8pm. The new preview date will allow the production, which was originally scheduled to begin previews two days earlier on Thursday, October 21, additional technical rehearsal time. Opening night remains as originally scheduled on Thursday, November 18 at 6:45pm

With their funky and fun production of I LOVE MY WIFE, New Line Theatre begins their 20th season with a trip back to the swinging seventies, when the last dying embers of the sexual revolution were still smoldering in the suburbs. It was a time when collars were broad, chests were hairy, and polyester was the fabric of choice. And though the obvious reference point for some might be Paul Mazursky's 1969 film Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, the two are actually quite dissimilar, except for the fact that two couples wind up sharing the same bed. But, I LOVE MY WIFE is more concerned with friendships and making connections. New Line's presentation of this perfectly charming adult comedy is superbly cast and directed, and well worth your time and attention.

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting will hold its 5th annual Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts this fall, bringing artists and activists together to discuss the relationship between art and social activism. Events will take place beginning on September 20th and end on October 1st.
