At a press conference held at Barrington Stage Company's Boyd-Quinson Mainstage, Artistic Director Julianne Boyd announced the theatre's 2015 season of musicals and plays that will take place in Downtown Pittsfield in the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage, St. Germain Stage and Youth Theatre venues.

Suave and swanky, smooth-talking Billy Flynn is personified--almost but not quite that seemingly devoid of heart--in Broadway veteran Jeff McCarthy ('Side Show,' Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast'), who plays CHICAGO's resident ladykiller and criminal lawyer in its strictly limited Manila run, which closes today, December 21, at The Theatre at Solaire Resort and Casino.

The much-anticipated Manila premiere of Broadway's longest-running American musical, CHICAGO, razzle-dazzled audiences with its hard-hitting numbers (All That Jazz, Cell Block Tango, Razzle Dazzle), which speak of passion, treachery, murder, and glossed-over celebrity, on opening night. Leading the pack of an all-American cast of Broadway veterans is Bianca Marroquin who rocked Solaire Resort and Casino's The Theatre with her multi-faceted portrayal of accused murderess Roxie Hart. The strong ensemble, while writhing, gyrating, and exploding to John Kander's music, provided the backdrop to Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse's dark satirical commentary of the 1920s Prohibition-era Chicago. When the audience rose to a standing ovation at the end of the show, it was palpable that even in these modern days, it is impossible to convict good looking murderesses.

A day after CHICAGO the Musical's 1920s-themed opening night gala at The Theatre at Solaire Resort and Casino, members of the Philippine press were treated to a sneak peek at two of the most popular musical numbers from the musical, and were given a chance to chat with the principal members of the cast and creative team in a press call that followed shortly after.

Broadway stalwart Jeff McCarthy joins the all-American cast of the Broadway musical CHICAGO, which is set to play Solaire Resort and Casino's The Theatre from next Wednesday, December 3, to Sunday, December 21. Set during the record-hot summers of 2004 and 2012, the play pits the scientist against his twin sister in a no-holds barred family struggle over land ownership and the future use of their wilderness estate. In one corner is John Bjornson, a composite of famous climatologists. In the other is his twin sister, Jeanne, an energy spokeswoman married to a skeptical lobbyist. Actor Jeff McCarthy ('Cheers,' 'Urinetown,' 'Chicago') heads the cast of six as the scientist. Theater Three Collaborative and Theater for the New City will present the work at TNC today, October 2 to 26, 2014, directed by the author.

There's a reason My Fair Lady is one of the most beloved musicals of all time. Not only does it feature a bunch of wonderful songs by Lerner and Loewe that have become classics, but it's based on the George Bernard Shaw play Pygmalion that deals with issues of class, gender, societal expectations, and the intersection of wealth and power. It's a musical that has style and substance. The Guthrie's gorgeous new production does well by this classic. The show is perfectly cast, the familiar music sounds great, the choreography is fantastic, and the sets and costumes are luscious. This hugely entertaining show is definitely a must-see summer blockbuster musical.
