YoungArts New York 2016 Kicks Off This Week with Mikhail Baryshnikov and More

The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts)'s 2016 YoungArts New York program will take place from April 12 to 17 and will offer 2016 YoungArts Winners from the New York area - selected from a record number of 12,000 applications - a rare opportunity to learn, connect and collaborate with fellow peers and creative luminaries across artistic disciplines.

Julien's Auctions to Hold Street and Contemporary Art Fair, 4/30

Los Angeles, California – (March 29, 2016) – Julien's Auctions, the world record breaking auction house to the stars, has announced its biannual Street & Contemporary Art auction featuring extraordinary highlights from the world's most sought after street artists including anonymous graffiti artist Banksy, whose identity was recently revealed by scientists by using a modeling technique for tracking down and identifying potential criminal suspects. The Banksy artwork collection is a featured highlight in the upcoming Street & Contemporary Art Auction taking place on Saturday, April 30th, 2016 at the Julien's Auctions Los Angeles gallery and will feature over 200 lots.

DCASE's 'OnEdge' Live Performance Series Begins Next Week

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) presents the third annual OnEdge, the experimental live performance series, February 19 - March 4, 2016.  The FREE admission series will feature Chicago and world premieres from national and international artists and companies at venues including the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington St.), the Storefront Theater (66 E. Randolph St.) and Links Hall (3111 N. Western Ave.). 

YoungArts Sets 2016 Regional Programs

he National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) today announced details for its 2016 regional programs, which will take place in Los Angeles, Miami and New York this February, March and April, respectively.

First International Contemporary Art Museum to Open in Indonesia, 2017

Indonesian philanthropist and leading collector Haryanto Adikoesoemo announced today the construction of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara (Museum MACAN, pronounced Mah-Chahn), the country's first museum dedicated to international modern and contemporary art. The museum is currently being built in Jakarta, Indonesia - the largest city in Southeast Asia with a metropolitan population of over 25 million- and will provide the public with a valuable cultural and educational resource. Adikoesoemo has named Dr. Thomas J. Berghuis, formerly the curator of Chinese art at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, as the museum's director.

YoungArts 35th Anniversary Gala Honors Rosie Perez, Robert Wilson and Tony Yazbeck Tonight

National YoungArts Week will culminate with the organization's largest annual fundraiser, the YoungArts Backyard Ball Performance and Gala, tonight, January 9, presented by MaxMara and emceed by Tony and Grammy Award-winning actor, singer and director, YoungArts Alumnus Billy Porter (1987 Winner in Theater). During the event, YoungArts will honor director and actress Rosie Perez and director Robert Wilson with the Arison Award, as well as performer, Tony Award nominee, YoungArts Master Teacher and 1997 YoungArts Winner in Theater Tony Yazbeck with the Arison Alumni Award, for their outstanding contributions and indelible impact on the arts.

2016 YoungArts Winners Announced

The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) today announced its 2016 YoungArts Winners. From more than 12,000 applications-the largest number to date-819 young artists from 42 states have been selected for their outstanding work and accomplishments across the literary, visual, design and performing arts. Winners receive cash awards of up to $10,000, validation by renowned mentors, opportunities to participate in YoungArts programs, a strong professional network, and guidance in taking important steps toward achieving their goals.  A complete list of the 2016 Winners is available online at http://youngarts.org/winners.

Met Museum Names Cornelia Parker as Artist for 2016 Roof Garden Commission

(New York, October 15, 2015)-Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, announced today that British artist Cornelia Parker has been selected to create a site-specific installation atop the Met's Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Roof Garden. The installation will be on view from May through October 2016, and will be the fourth in a series of site-specific commissions for the outdoor space.

Jared Leto's BEYOND THE HORIZON Launches on AOL BUILD

AOL BUILD, a live interview platform like no other, today announced the launch of a brand-new type of series with 'Beyond the Horizon' from Academy Award winning actor, musician, director and entrepreneur Jared Leto on October 6, 2015. The series marks the first original video series for AOL BUILD and focuses on the future of humanity with some of the world's most interesting visionaries in science, art, technology and politics. Andrew Rannells & More Set for YoungArts' 2015-16 Season

The National YoungArts Foundation today announces a dynamic roster of public programs for its 35th anniversary season encompassing a series of new performances, showcases, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary collaborations across a broad range of art forms-from the organization's first resident dance company Complexions Contemporary Ballet; and "Pairings at Ted's," a new dinner and performance  series; to site-specific installations and public discussions with creative leaders such as Daniel Arsham, Franklin Sirmans and Fab 5 Freddy. The season underscores YoungArts' longstanding commitment to supporting the nation's next generation of artists by providing transformative educational and professional opportunities, including master classes, workshops, and mentorship programs with such renowned arts leaders as Carrie Mae Weems, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Frank Gehry, Wynton Marsalis, Jeff Koons, Kerry Washington, Robert Redford, and Placido Domingo, among others.
