Disney's Theatrical Productions high energy stage version of the 1992 film NEWSIES opened last night at Shea's after a tryout at New Jersey's PAPERMILL PLAYHOUSE and subsequent Broadway run. Based on the Disney film,  Harvey Fierstein's book delineates the struggle in 1899 of a group of newsboys who strike against the powerful newspaper magnates, led by Joseph Pulitzer.

Disney Theatrical Productions and Broadway Across America announced today that tickets for the highly anticipated Fort Lauderdale engagement of Disney's NEWSIES will go on sale to the public on Friday, September 25 at 10:00am.  The Tony® Award-winning production will begin performances at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, November 17 for a limited engagement of two weeks through Sunday, November 29.

Disney Theatrical Productions and The Orpheum Theatre announced today that tickets for the highly anticipated Memphis engagement of Disney's NEWSIES will go on sale to the public today, September 11 at 10:00 AM.  The Tony Award-winning production will begin performances at the Orpheum Theatre on Tuesday, December 8 for a limited engagement of eight performances through Sunday, December 13.

Williamson ('Nashville,' 'Homeland'), in Matthew Lopez's THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA MCBRIDE, the first production of MCC's 2015-16 Main Stage Season. THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA MCBRIDE begins previews tonight, August 20, 2015 ahead of a September 9, 2015 opening night.

Disney Theatrical Productions and Broadway In Detroit announced today that tickets for the highly anticipated Detroit engagement of Disney's NEWSIES will go on sale to the public on Sunday, September 20 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets will be available for purchase at all Ticketmaster locations, by phone at 1-800-982-2787, online at www.broadwayindetroit.com or www.ticketmaster.com.  Tickets will also be available for purchase at the Detroit Opera House and Fisher Theatre box offices starting at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 21. The Tony Award-winning production will begin performances at the Detroit Opera House on Tuesday, December 15 for a limited holiday season engagement of two weeks through Sunday, December 27.   

Disney Theatrical Productions announced today that tickets for the highly anticipated New Orleans engagement of Disney's NEWSIES will go on sale to the public on Friday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. Presented by the New Orleans Theatre Association, the Tony Award-winning production will begin performances at the Saenger Theatre on Tuesday, Dec. 1, for a limited engagement of one week through Sunday, Dec. 6, as part of the East Jefferson General Hospital Broadway in New Orleans 2015 - 2016 season.

On August 24, 2014, NEWISES closed on Broadway. Exactly one year later, cast members from the hit Broadway musical came together on the stage of 54 Below to reminisce. In the lineup were songs of various music styles, stories and memories of their time with the show. 'Theatre for the deaf? On Broadway?' It's a question that many theatre fans have asked since July 7, when official word came that Deaf West Theatre's production of Spring Awakening would land on Broadway this fall. The upcoming production, which will run September 8 through January 9 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, will sound the same to fans of the 2006 Tony-winning musical, but it will be performed simultaneously in American Sign Language by a cast of 27. Wait...what? That's right- this production, which marks the first Broadway revival of the show since it closed in 2009, comes complete with ASL, and though the concept seems revolutionary, this is far from the first time that it has been done (and has worked). Let's review:

Broadway In Chicago has announced the return engagement of Disney's NEWSIES. Back by popular demand, Disney's NEWSIES will play the Oriental Theatre (24 W Randolph) July 28 through August 7, 2016.

Music Theatre International Chairman and CEO Freddie Gershon and his wife Myrna hosted eight outstanding educators from schools and performing arts centers around the country for four days of classes and activities honoring them for working to make a difference for their students and communities through the process of staging musical theatre productions in their schools and educational theatre groups.  The event known as the 6th Annual FREDDIE G FELLOWSHIP culminated in a gala dinner at Chez Josephine on July 11th.  Joining the festivities were Broadway greats Bernadette Peters and Brian d'Arcy James.
