Due to popular demand, the hit song "I'm a Believer" has been added to the smash Broadway musical, SHREK THE MUSICAL®. Since the musical opened on Broadway last year, an instrumental version of the classic 1960s song was played as patrons left the theatre. Now, beginning with the performance on Friday, October 2nd, the entire company will perform "I'm a Believer."

AVENUE Q is the smash-hit Broadway musical about real life in New York City, as told by a cast of people and puppets through a hilariously irreverent, Tony-winning book and score. The three-time Tony Award winning musical will make its Providence debut at the Providence Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, October 20 at 7P.

The producers of the Tony Award-winning musical AVENUE Q, transferring from its 6-year run on Broadway to New World Stages (340 West 50 Street) in New York, with previews set to begin October 9, have announced casting for the Off-Broadway production along with the official opening night, now scheduled for October 21, 2009. A Rush Ticket policy for all performances is also announced.
Cassidy Janson: New Resident On AVENUE Q

Rising star of musical theatre, Cassidy Janson is confirmed to join the cast of AVENUE Q this fall. She takes over the roles of Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut from Julie Atherton on October 5 as the show enters its new booking period. Cassidy gained attention when she covered and appeared in the role of Elphaba in the West End hit Wicked. Prior to that she played Susan in the UK premier of Jonathan Larson?s Tick Tick Boom at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

SHREK THE MUSICAL announced the winners in the 'Not Your Ordinary Princess' competition, hosted by Nick.com. Laura Laureano (age 14) from Ronkonkoma, NY won the opportunity to play 'Teen Fiona' and Hannah Beatt (age 9) from Sarasota, FL won the opportunity to play 'Young Fiona' on Saturday, September 19th at 8 p.m. alongside Tony Award-winner Sutton Foster in a performance of the award-winning SHREK THE MUSICAL.

The lucky winners were flown to New York to rehearse with Sutton Foster and members of the show's creative team, have a costume fitting, and appear in SHREK THE MUSICAL for one night only. The will be singing 'I Know It's Today' with Sutton Foster. The girls arrived to begin their rehearsal with Sutton Foster and music director, Eric Stern. Yesterday, Thursday, September 17th, BroadwayWorld.com's cameras were invited to come to the theatre to meet Laura and Hannah and capture their first meeting with Sutton Foster!

Some things aren't only for now! Announced from the stage tonight by producer Kevin McCollum was the unprecedented news that AVENUE Q was making theatre history by moving BACK off Broadway and that it will re-open on October 9, 2009 at New World Stages. The show will be presented in its entirety and from the same production, design and producer team as its current Broadway incarnation. An official announcement is expected tomorrow.

AVENUE Q marked its 6th anniversary on Broadway on July 31st. The musical began previews on Broadway on July 11, 2003, opened on July 31, 2003, and went on to win three 2004 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book of a Musical.
