Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces the winning selections of the 2009 TRU Voices New Plays Reading Series. In a series that is unique because it develops new producers as well as new plays, three works were chosen from submissions by emerging or established producers, as well as from writers who hoped to be matched with a producer. Fulfilling TRU's mission of nurturing the producer-writer relationship, each of the plays this year is either produced by, or with the assistance of, a member of the TRU Producer Mentorship program.

The Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden invites New Yorkers to bring along their sense and sensibility, as well as their pride and prejudice for an evening of Jane Austen appreciation on Tuesday, May 12th at 6:00 PM. Taking place in the Museum's beautiful garden, the Essential Jane Austen will be hosted by internationally-acclaimed Austen lecturer Elsa Solender, who will speak about the writer's life, her works and her popularity with both 19th-century and modern audiences. Ms. Solender is an independent scholar, professor and a past President of the Jane Austen Society of North America. Following the lecture, there will be a question and answer session and a reception with light refreshments.
