When word got out that acclaimed Nashville artist Jamey Johnson was recording a tribute album to beloved songwriter Hank Cochran, musical superstars clamored to participate. From the ranks of the Country Music Hall of Fame came George Strait, Emmylou Harris, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Ray Price and Vince Gill, not to mention Cochran's oldest and truest friend, Willie Nelson. The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held tonight, Feb. 10, 2013, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live on CBS from 8 - 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Beginning at 5 p.m. tonight, three hours before the main GRAMMY Awards show, the pre-telecast Ceremony will announce awards in 70 additional categories, including musical theater. It will be hosted by David Alan Grier, who is nominated for a Grammy for his performance in The Gershwin's PORGY AND BESS on Broadway.

In eerie fashion, almost as a sign from the long gone masters of the genre, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams Sr. himself, Moore's label Sol Records has released this epic 12 song cd seemingly in response to pop country artist Blake Shelton's recent statement that folks who perform and /or listen to classic country music are “old farts and jackasses.”

Overall, Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), FUN., Jay-Z, Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean, and Kanye West top the nominations with six each; The Black Keys, Chick Corea, and Miguel each garner five nods; and producer Jeff Bhasker, mastering engineer Bob Ludwig and Nas are each up for four awards.
