Does a comic opera from 1910 resonate with contemporary audiences? The answer would be with certainty, yes. Third Avenue Playhouse's Madame Sherry with original book/lyrics by Otto Harbach and music by Karl L. Hoschna, would be completely entertaining in the under James Valcq's impressive adaptation and direction along with a talented acting troupe who possess triple threats---they act, dance and sing. Valcq adapted the vintage comic opera from a found script and stage manager's notes discovered in New York's Public library and produces this effervescent theater experience on stage in Sturgeon Bay. With more than 20 songs, romantic smooching and clever choreography, Madame Sherry rings in summer entertainment and chases away any cloudy skies appearing on the horizon, literally or figuratively.

On any given Sunday afternoon or weekday evening, Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) presents enthralling theatrical happenings that make audiences crave indoor (and air conditioned) time and space, that relates to the Newtonian.. A musical about second chances is getting one of its own this summer when students from Drexel University's Westphal College of Media Arts & Design bring a theatrical stage reading of 'The Spitfire Grill' to Philadelphia.

?A young woman seeking redemption helps a weary Wisconsin town re-discover its value while finding the meaning of home in the Syracuse University Department of Drama's production of the 2001 Off-Broadway musical The Spitfire Grill. Based on Lee David Zlotoff's 1996 film of the same name, The Spitfire Grill won the Richard Rodgers Award for New American Musical and was nominated for Best Off-Broadway Musical by the New York Outer Critics Circle and the Drama League.

Third Avenue Playhouse presents a musical revue concieved by James Valcq based on Berlin's early career using this as the title, and the evening celebrates everything about the piano the composer treasured.  

Opening night of THE SPITFIRE GRILL was a special evening for the Beck Center for the Arts. It was the start of the organization's 82nd season and Scott Spence's 25th anniversary as Artistic Director.

SU Drama's 2015/16 season features six productions, including three musicals, starting in October with the Cole Porter classic Kiss Me, Kate. Second in the season is Agamemnon, the haunting Greek classic, followed by a co-production with Syracuse Stage, Peter Pan. After winter break, the season continues with Punk Rock and the country-flavored musical The Spitfire Grill. Closing the season in May is the comedy A Flea in Her Ear.

Beck Center for the Arts opens its 2015-2016 theater season with The Spitfire Grill September 18 through October 18, 2015 on the Mackey Main Stage. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays. The Spitfire Grill, a musical based on the 1986 film of the same name that was seen Off-Broadway in a production by Playwrights' Horizons at the Duke Theatre on 42nd Street in 2001, is receiving its U.K. premiere at London's Union Theatre. It began performances yesterday prior to an official opening tonight, July 24, for a run through August 15.

What is the value of an education? Does consumerism closet society's need to connect with art and literature, a "something more" to be experienced in the world than merely a career? Stage Door Theatre Company at Third Avenue Playhouse revisits these questions in Educating Rita, a 1983 play written by Willy Russell. Many theatergoers may remember the 1983 award-winning film starring Michael Caine and Julie Walters, although the original Russell play has recently been revived in Chichester, England this spring.
