Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) seeks submissions for the 9th Annual TRU VOICES New Musicals Reading Series (deadline: August 22, 2009). TheTRU VOICES New Musicals Reading Series is a unique series created to support producers who have an interest in developing new musicals. Shows selected will receive staged readings to be presented on consecutive Monday evenings in December 2009 at The Players Theatre, 115 MacDougal Street (below W. 3rd Street), NYC.

The Rock Tenor makes its debut this summer beginning July 8, starring vocalist Rob Evan (Broadway performer and lead singer for the multi-platinum band The Trans-Siberian Orchestra), who conceived the show with director Vincent Marini (former Producing Artistic Director of New Jersey's Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center) officially opens July 15 and closes August 23. The Rock Tenor fuses rock and roll anthems, Broadway classics, opera favorites, country rhythms and classical melodies in a unique performance that showcases these familiar works in a whole new light. The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!), the acclaimed off Broadway hit by Eric Rockwell and Joanne Bogart that has played to sold-out houses across the United Stages, in Canada and on London's West End, will return to New York for a one-night-only performance, on Wednesday, July 8 at 7:30pm. The evening will benefit the York Theatre Company, the award-winning off-Broadway company that first produced the show, in 2004, in honor of the theatre's 40th Anniversary.

The producers and cast of The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!) have dedicated the one-night-only benefit performance on Wednesday, July 8 at 7:30pm to the memory of Lovette George, who starred in the original off Broadway production and died in September, 2006 from ovarian cancer, at the age of 44. The benefit will be presented at The York Theatre Company in Saint Peter's Church, (54th Street and Lexington Avenue).
