The list of presenters at the 2009 Theatre Hall of Fame ceremony includes such notables as directors Frank Dunlop, Joseph Hardy, and Michael Montel; actor Everett Quinton; playwright John Guare, and producers Paul Libin, David Stone, Marc Platt and Nick Scandalios.
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET - New Rock 'n' Roll Musical to Open on Broadway in April 2010

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, the new musical inspired by the famed 1956 recording session that brought together four of the most legendary figures in the history of rock 'n' roll - Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley - will open at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre, 208 West 41st Street, in April, 2010. Previews will begin March 13, 2010.
2009 Theatre Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The 2009 Theatre Hall of Fame inductees have been revealed and include such icons as actors Jim Dale, John McMartin and Lynn Redgrave; producers Roger Berlind and Ted Mann; composers Stephen Schwartz and Andrew Lloyd Webber; and, posthumously, the late playwright/actor Charles Ludlum. The Annual Theatre Hall of Fame ceremony, now in its 39th year, will be held Jan. 25, 2010, in the Gershwin Theatre's North Rotunda. Terry Hodge Taylor is producing the event.
45 Houston Area High Schools To Compete For The Ultimate Real-Life High School Musical Award

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) is thrilled to announce that the eighth annual Tommy Tune Awards will include 45 high schools from the greater Houston area. Developed by TUTS in 2002, the Tommy Tune Awards honor musical theatre excellence at the high school level. During the 2009-2010 school year, a team of 35 Houston-based theatre professionals will evaluate the participating high school productions and announce the winners at a Tony Awards-style ceremony to be held April 20, 2010 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. The event will feature spotlight numbers from the nominated shows, as well as award presentations to the performers, directors, choreographers, orchestras and designers, who have defined excellence throughout 2009 - 2010.

Nederlander Alliances, LLC and Pittsburgh CLO, co-producers and founding partners of The National High School Musical Theater Awards, presented the first annual Jimmy Awards in a ceremony held last night at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, New York University. The Jimmy Award is named in honor of legendary Broadway theater owner and producer James M. Nederlander. The award features an illustration of James M. Nederlander drawn by world renowned artist Al Hirschfeld.

Two local winners in Starlight Theatre's 2009 Blue Star Awards competition depart this week on a five-day journey to New York City, where they'll participate in the first annual National High School Musical Theater Awards. Student winners of the North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) 4th annual Spotlight Awards were announced at an exciting Tony® Award-style program on the NSMT main stage Tuesday, June 2, 2009. The NSMT Spotlight Awards program is designed to honor the accomplishments of high school students and teachers as well as encourage them to achieve the highest levels of excellence in musical theater. This year's program included 22 high schools and over 1,000 students vying for 15 awards, including the prestigious award for Best Overall Musical, and a chance to participate in the first National High School Musical Theater Awards in New York City.

North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) announces the nominees for the 4th annual NSMT Spotlight Awards. The Tony® Award style program is designed to honor the accomplishments of high school students and teachers as well as encourage them to achieve the highest levels of excellence in musical theater. This year's program involves 22 high schools and over 1,000 students, and will culminate in an awards ceremony on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 7:30pm on the NSMT main stage. The event is open to the public and a donation of $10 per person will be requested at the door.
