Cincinnati Music Theatre is proud to present the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical A CHORUS LINE from November 8-16, 2013 at the Aronoff Center's intimate Jarson-Kaplan Theater (see full performance schedule below).

Donna McKechnie, beloved Tony-winning original 'Cassie' joins in a celebration of the upcoming fortieth anniversary of the creation ofA Chorus Line at the annual Fire Island Pines Literary and Theater Weekend, a hugely popular event held annually at The Madison Fire Island Pines.

Today in 2006, the first Broadway revival of A Chorus Line opened at the Schoenfeld Theatre, where it ran for 759 performances. A Chorus Line is a musical about Broadway dancers auditioning for spots on a chorus line. The book was authored by James Kirkwood, Jr. and Nicholas Dante, lyrics were written by Edward Kleban, and music was composed by Marvin Hamlisch. With nineteen main characters, it is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theatre during an audition for a musical. The show provides a glimpse into the personalities of the performers and the choreographer as they describe the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers. The original Broadway production received 12 Tony Award nominations and winning nine of them, in addition to the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

I've been writing about Houston's extremely varied theater scene for a little over a year now. One thing I quickly learned is that there is never a dearth of quality productions to look forward to in this city. As summer is finally beginning to take hold of Houston, I can't help but anticipate the many happenings this season brings. In order of opening nights, I have listed the six productions I am most excited to experience.

Probing into the lives of real people often yields fascinating theatre. The classical musical CHORUS LINE was based on interviews that Elyrian, James Kirkwood, wove into a fascinating tale of the true life and theatrical experiences of Broadway singers and dancers.

Marc Robin's re-choreographed and re-imagined A Chorus Line is Michael Bennett for a new age, and theatrical dance fans will not feel 'Nothing' when they watch it.
