The LA Times is reporting the breaking news that 'Center Theatre Group announced Tuesday that it would import the production now on Broadway that originated in May at Washington's Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Michael Ritchie, CTG's artistic director, said "we are currently in discussions" to lure members of the Broadway cast led by Bernadette Peters, Elaine Page, Jan Maxwell, Jayne Houdyshell and Danny Burstein. "Follies" is scheduled to close on Broadway Jan. 22 after a four-month run.'

Yesterday, December 1st, Stephen Sondheim, Bernadette Peters, Jan Maxwell, Danny Burstein, Ron Raines, Elaine Paige and additional members of the cast of FOLLIES signed copies of the album at Barnes & Noble on the Upper East Side. PS Classics, the label dedicated to the heritage of Broadway and American popular song, will release the new two-disc set Broadway cast album of the Kennedy Center's acclaimed revival of FOLLIES on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. On Thursday, December 1st, Stephen Sondheim, Bernadette Peters, Jan Maxwell, Danny Burstein, Ron Raines, Elaine Paige and other members of the cast of FOLLIES will sign copies of the album at Barnes & Noble (150 E. 86th St; between Lexington & 3rd Ave.) beginning promptly at 4:00 p.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m. The album is produced by Tommy Krasker.
Two-time Tony nominee Danny Burstein is currently starring in the acclaimed Broadway revival of James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece FOLLIES. Joining Robert Lindsay (Henry II) and Joanna Lumley (Eleanor of Aquitane) in Trevor Nunn's production of James Goldman's The Lion in Winter are Tom Bateman (Richard), Sonya Cassidy (Alais), Joseph Drake (John), Rory Fleck-Byrne (Philip) and James Norton (Geoffrey). The Lion in Winter, produced by the Theatre Royal Haymarket Company, runs until 28 January 2012, Set and costume designs are by Stephen Brimson Lewis with music by Steven Edis, sound by Paul Groothuis and video design by Ian William Galloway. Chicago Shakespeare Theater's extension of its celebrated 25th Anniversary Season opening production of Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman's Follies, directed by CST Associate Artistic Director Gary Griffin will close today, November 13, 2011, in CST's Courtyard Theater. The production features a company of more than 40 actors and musicians that includes Olivier Award nominees Brent Barrett as Benjamin Stone and Caroline O'Connor as Phyllis Rogers Stone, with Robert Petkoff as Buddy Plummer, Susan Moniz as Sally Durant Plummer and Chicago musical theater favorite Hollis Resnik as Carlotta Campion.
