LES MISÉRABLES' Toronto Opening Likely to be Delayed

Though an official announcement was made just under a month ago that the classic muscial LES MISERABLES would be opening in Toronto in July 2012, Cameron Mackintosh tells Toronto.com today that it's 'highly unlikely' that the show will make that deadline.

Producer Cameron Mackintosh and President of the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) J.L. Ramin Karimloo will star as ‘Jean Valjean' in the legendary musical 'LES MISERABLES' at the Queen's Theatre from Tuesday 29 November 2011- Saturday 3 March 2012. Ramin joins the current West End company which includes Hadley Fraser as ‘Javert', Caroline Sheen as ‘Fantine', Alexia Khadime as ‘Eponine', Craig Mather as ‘Marius', Cameron Blakely as ‘Thénardier', Katy Secombe as ‘Madame Thénardier', Liam Tamne as ‘Enjolras' and Lisa-Anne Wood as ‘Cosette'.

RIALTO CHATTER: Ramin Karimloo to Take on Jean Valjean in West End's LES MISERABLES?

One of BroadwayWorld's reliable sources has revealed that West End star Ramin Karimloo, who was just seen as the title character in the 25th Anniversary concert of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, will star as Val Jean in the London production of LES MISERABLES in 2012, taking over for Alfie Boe. Karimloo has previously played both Marius and Enjorlas in various productions of the show.

David Mirvish and Cameron Mackintosh have just announced the Canadian Premiere of Cameron Mackintosh's highly acclaimed new 25th anniversary production of Les Misérables. The all-new production of Les Misérables featuring glorious new staging with spectacular re-imagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo and an all-Canadian cast will play the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto. Performances begin July 20, 2012. The search for the cast for the new Canadian production will begin immediately.

Les Misérables made its pre-Broadway premiere at the Kennedy Center in December 1986, and now Cameron Mackintosh's new 25th anniversary production of Boublil and Schönberg's Les Misérables will run in the Kennedy Center Opera House from September 28 to October 30, 2011. Featuring glorious new staging and spectacular reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo, the production is directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell with music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer from the original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel.
