On Monday, November 8, 2010, Behind the Scenes: Careers On and Off Broadway, a free panel discussion highlighting backstage careers in theatre, will take place at the Apollo Theater, presented by the Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, the Apollo Theater Education Program, and the Broadway League.

Said Marilyn Levinson, Founding Executive Producer of Bay Area Cabaret, now in its seventh season, 'The Venetian Room reigned supreme as America's premier supper club from 1947 to 1989. It was here that Tony Bennett introduced his signature song 'I Left My Heart in San Francisco' and show business legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Marlene Dietrich, Tina Turner, Joel Grey, Bobby Short, James Brown, Vic Damone, Nat 'King' Cole, and many, many other performers held forth for more than four decades. We are thrilled and honored to be reopening this historic room as a music venue, where we will be presenting this generation's top Broadway, pop and jazz performers.'

Bette Midler, whose solo Broadway debut at the Palace Theatre is the stuff of showbiz legend, will return to that landmark venue as a producer of this season's eagerly anticipated, PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT THE MUSICAL. The New York Post is reporting star Bette Midler loved the show so much that she's invested a 'sizable chunk' of money and will be billed as an above the title producer. The paper also reports that she will be hands-on in rehearsals and note sessions as well for the Broadway-bound musical.
