BWW Reviews: AKARUI [Bright] Confounds at Cleveland Public Theatre

Cleveland Public Theatre's mission is to raise consciousness and nurture compassion through ground breaking new, adventurous work. Under the guidance of Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan, the theatre challenges audiences mainly strong works. Included in the winners have been this season's ANTELBELLUM, and past offerings such as DARWINNI, THE COMUPPANCE OF MAN, BLUE SKY TRANSMISSION: A TIBETAN BOOK OF THE DEAD, and INSOMNIA THE WAKING OF HERSELVES. Some other offerings have confounded more than excited.

The Loons Play The Public in ON GOLDEN POND

The loons have begun their pre-summer song at the Public Theatre in Lewiston, Maine as Ernest Thompson's dramedy, On Golden Pond, takes the stage starring theatre, film and TV actors (and real life couple), Mike Genovese and Ellen Crawford.

However, does the theater really need another show about the business of show? It does when it is as delightful as Josephine Tonight.

Spano To Lead Atlanta Symphony's Madama Butterfly 6/9, 6/12

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Announces 2009-10 Season

Music director Robert Spano and principal guest conductor Donald Runnicles announce 2009-10 season of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. This season will mark Orchestra's 65th anniversary season, the Youth Orchestra's 35th anniversary season, and Mr. Spano and Mr. Runnicles's ninth season. Culminating the season, the League of American Orchestras will host the 65th National Conference in Atlanta, which will also kick off the 10th Anniversary of the Atlanta School of Composers by featuring new works by the composers. Mr. Spano and The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will perform five world premieres during the 2009-10 65th Anniversary Season, three of which are ASO commissions. Atlanta School of Composers Jennifer Higdon and Michael Gandolfi; Wynton Marsalis's American Symphony; Angel Lam's New Cello Concerto with Soloist Yo-Yo Ma; and Dejan Lazic's New Piano Arrangement of Brahms's Violin Concerto. The 2009/10 Season's guest artists and conductors to include: Yo-Yo Ma, Lang Lang, Midori, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Jon Kimura Parker, Leila Josefowicz, Garrick Ohlsson, Olli Mustonen, Robert Levin, Angela Brown.
