On Friday, December 4th, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater unveiled Robert Battle's Awakening, his first world premiere since becoming Artistic Director. Grammy-award winning singer Lauryn Hill was in attendance for the debut of the powerful work in which a dozen Ailey dancers lead the audience on a cathartic journey of dissonance and harmony, chaos and resolution. Gaspard & Dancers' TRILOGY Set for Schimmel Center

On Friday and Saturday, September 25th and 26th, choreographer, Gaspard Louis will bring his company, Gaspard & Dancers to perform their Trilogy which pays tribute to the people of Haiti who endured the horrific 2010 earthquake that caused devastation to the island nation. “The Trilogy was my own personal response to the 2010 Haiti earthquake,” says choreographer and Artistic Director, Gaspard Louis.

If ever given the opportunity to take in an Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performance, a few things are definitely bound to happen. You will be forever changed. Your views and ideologies will be questioned. Your biases and prejudices will be challenged and you will most definitely leave the theatre wanting to experience it again and again and again.

When benevolence, fine artistry and pure movement conjoin, you get Dance Works Unhinged, a benefit concert choreographed and performed by members of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. On Sunday July 20, 2013, the Ailey Citigroup Theater presented an evening of original works for a good cause: the support of the Ailey Dance Resource Fund-ADRF--which provides financial assistance to company members in the form of career transition grants, creative endeavor grants, and emergency loans.
