Hypokrit Theatre Company Announces Line-Up for TAMASHA: FESTIVAL OF SOUTH ASIAN PERFORMING ARTS

Hypokrit Theatre Company, in association with The James Jay Dudley Luce Foundation, is pleased to announce the line up for Tamasha: Festival of South Asian Performing Arts. The festival will take over the entire Paradise Factory (64 East 4th St) to spotlight over fifty South Asian performers. Tamasha takes place September 26th through October 2nd, 2016.

Demisch Danant to Open New Gallery with MADE IN FRANCE Exhibit, Today

New York | Paris...Demisch Danant is pleased to announce that its new gallery in New York City will open to the public on September 17, 2016, with the inaugural exhibition made in France. The show will present a selection of more than two dozen rare and important objects that together trace the parallel and often intertwined narratives of French design of the 1960s and 1970s, and the gallery's emergence over the past decade as one of the world's most respected and original voices in the field. The exhibition is intended to shed light on an extraordinary period in which the inventiveness of designers in post-war France shaped taste in the 20th century — and continues to do so today. made in France will also offer insights into the ways in which the gallery's longtime intensive research, scholarship, and discoveries have catalyzed connoisseurship and expanded understanding and appreciation for modern design among private and institutional collectors. 

MOonhORsE Dance Theatre Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Canada's Most Distinguished Veteran Dance Artists

Older & Reckless, MOonhORsE Dance Theatre's celebrated series curated by Artistic Director Claudia Moore, celebrates the company's 20th season with its 39th edition featuring five renowned dance artists. Governor General award winner Margie Gillis (Montreal), dance theatre maverick Robert Desrosiers with cellist/singer Anne Bourne, acclaimed dancer/co-founder of COBA (Collective Of Black Artists) BaKari I. Lindsay, choreographer/director Charles Koroneho (New Zealand), and Claudia Moore in a work byApolonia Velasquez and Ofilio Sinbadinho (Gadfly), take to the stage Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12 for three shows only at Harbourfront Centre Theatre.

Cate Blanchett and Richard Roxburgh will be joined by the entire original cast of The Present when Sydney Theatre Company's production of Andrew Upton's adaptation of Anton Chekhov's first play opens on Broadway. This installment of the multi-genre series brings together acclaimed artists for a special one-night performance to celebrate their heroes and artistic inspirations. The cast of Heroes features soprano Jacqueline Bolier, singer/songwriter Kate Davis, Broadway and New York City Ballet star Robert Fairchild, tap dance powerhouse Jared Grimes, acclaimed ballerina Carla Korbes, visual art curator, author, and historian Sarah Lewis, Memphis jookin' dance pioneer Lil Buck (last seen as part of DEMO: Place), the MusiCorps Wounded Warrior Band, and jazz prodigy Matthew Whitaker.

Walt (Albert Dayan) and Barb (Jacqueline Wright) may seem like your typical suburban couple with a fabulous eat-in kitchen and two precocious children (Michael Sturgis as Jack and Alexandra Freeman as Jill). The scary thing is… maybe they are.

COD College Theater Presents A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE at the MAC

College of DuPage (COD) College Theater presents Oscar Wilde's "A Woman of No Importance," directed by COD Professor of Theater, Amelia Barrett at the McAninch Arts Center's Studio Theatre, Oct. 6-23. "A Woman of No Importance" premiered in 1893 in London's Haymarket Theatre. As with many of Wilde's plays, it satirizes English upper class society and features many witty, memorable and highly quotable lines, such as "Men marry because they are tired; women because they are curious. Both are disappointed;" and "Nothing succeeds like excess." Please note: This play contains adult language and themes.
