After auditioning performers in New York City, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre has confirmed casting for all six shows in the 65th Music Circus season. The stellar cast for the season is loaded with Broadway veterans, some of whom are making their Music Circus debuts, Tony nominees and audience favorites from previous Music Circus productions.
Betsy Wolfe, Andrew Samonsky, John Ellison Conlee, Ann Harada and more join Laura Osnes, Santino Fontana and more in Transport Group's concert presentation of THE MUSIC MAN. The five-show season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion includes The Wizard of Oz, Show Boat, Sugar, The King and I and the Music Circus premiere of Chicago.
Jeff McCarthy, the actor whose New York credits include Urinetown, Chicago, The Pirate Queen, Side Show and Beauty & the Beast, among others, will lead the cast as the title character in THE GRINCH at MSG.
Disney's The Little Mermaid, the hit Broadway musical based on the popular animated film, opened July 10 at Wells Fargo Pavilion for a two-week run through July 22. This Disney family favorite, part of the 2012 Music Circus season, features the popular songs "Part of Your World," "Under the Sea," and "Kiss the Girl." Ordway Center for the Performing Arts announces the full cast and creative team for its holiday production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's 'Cinderella,' which features numerous Twin Cities theater favorites. Rehearsals for 'Cinderella' start November 17 and the production will run from December 13, 2011 to January 1, 2012 on the Ordway stage for a total of 23 performances.
Casting for Music Circus' THE PRODUCERS, which runs July 12-17. THe production will star Tony Award-winner Gary Beach, Bob Amaral and Matt Loehr. Beach returns to the Wells Fargo Pavilion as Roger De Bris, the character he originated on Broadway and in the 2005 film version with Matthew Broderick. Last year, he appeared at Music Circus as King Arthur in Monty Python's 'Spamalot' and the year before as Nathan Detroit in 'Guys and Dolls.'
