In 1968, amid an economic boom, many in Japan registered widespread discontent over social inequalities. At the same time, the country was roiled by protests against the Vietnam War and the upcoming renewal of a treaty extending American occupation. These circumstances mark the point of departure for For a New World to Come: Experiments in Japanese Art and Photography, 1968–1979, the first comprehensive exhibition to focus upon a critical moment when Japanese artists and photographers, sensing that their traditional practices were no longer valid, began experimenting with the possibilities of camera-based practices, laying the foundations for contemporary art in Japan.

NYC Parks presents Living Landmarks, a new exhibit at the Arsenal Gallery in Central Park. The exhibit will be on view weekdays from June 25 through August 28. Organized by NYC Parks Director of Art and Antiquities Jonathan Kuhn and Public Art Coordinator Jennifer Lantzas, the show is mounted on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the NYC Landmarks Law, enacted by Mayor Robert F. Wagner in 1965 with the intention of safeguarding those buildings and places that best represent New York City's cultural, social, economic, political, and architectural history. The law was spurred by the loss of several edifices of great significance, notably Penn Station in 1963, galvanizing the growing preservation movement.

Noguchi praised Segerstrom for the combination of entrepreneurial drive and daring vision that he applied to everything he did, from establishing South Coast Plaza and building it into an unparalleled international destination for luxury shopping, to transforming his native Orange County, California into a culturally rich cosmopolitan community.
Now, over 40 years later, Yoko Ono: One Woman Show, 1960-1971 surveys the decisive decade that led up to that unauthorized exhibition at MoMA, bringing together approximately 125 of her early objects, works on paper, installations, performances, audio recordings, and films, alongside rarely seen archival materials. On view from May 17 to September 7, 2015, this is the first exhibition at MoMA dedicated exclusively to the artist's work.

Prokofiev, Gershwin and Ravel played for her, Isamu Noguchi designed her costumes and she commissioned Aaron Coplandâ€s first ballet score. She dedicated her life to making dance and ballet accessible to everyone. Ruth's work on Broadway includes her professional stage debut in Jerome Kern and Victor Herbertâ€s Miss 1917, a leading role in Irving Berlin's Music Box Revue 1923-24 edition, and choreographing 1947's Music in My Heart.
