A rare collection of complete live recordings of classic American musical theater is now available at two major venues: Goodspeed Musicals' Scherer Library of Musical Theatre in East Haddam, Connecticut, and Cleveland Public Library in Cleveland, Ohio.
Opera Theater of Pittsburgh's SummerFest ended on a high note this Sunday with the festival's pitch-perfect final showing of Leonard Bernstein's Candide. Based on Voltaire's Candide ou L'Optimisme, the comic operetta follows Candide, a wide-eyed optimist who, once banished from his homeland of Westphalia for "canoodling" with his beloved Cunegonde, travels the world over with a bevy of inimitable companions. The two lovers are eventually reunited and set off on a journey to the New World, satiated by hope and advice from the seemingly wise and all-knowing Dr. Pangloss.
The Quantum Theatre will set their next venture, Bernstein's CANDIDE, in the former Don Allen Auto City. The musical is directed by Karla Boos and will play November 5th through 22nd.

Kritzerland will present the first ever CD release of the Original Cast Recording of Anya, with a score by Robert Wright and George Forrest (based on themes by Sergei Rachmaninoff).
