New Live Nation-Operated Venue in Nashville Reveals Name

Live Nation Entertainment and the City of Nashville today announced details behind the opening of Ascend Amphitheater- the city's new Live Nation-operated amphitheater. The state of the art venue will feature its first concert with GRAMMY Award-winner Eric Church on July 30, 2015. The venue also revealed its inaugural summer season line-up with some of the biggest names in music including Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire, Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson's End Times Tour, Idina Menzel, Widespread Panic, Phish, Steely Dan and more. Kylie Myers, a 12-year-old aspiring actress form Georgia, was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, on April 9, 2014. Since then, Broadway stars, companies, and thousands of people around the world quickly adopted her. And even though she had to miss her walk-on Broadway role, Kylie still made her Broadway debut this week on a billboard in Times Square.

The YALE INSTITUTE FOR MUSIC THEATRE (Mark Brokaw, Artistic Director) has selected two original book musicals to be developed in an intensive lab setting in New Haven, June 13-28: gilgamesh & the mosquito, music by Bob Kelly and book and lyrics by Sam Chanse; and Horizons, music by Ben Wexler and book and lyrics by Mark Sonnenblick. The Institute culminates with open rehearsal readings of each project, presented as a part of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, on June 26 and 27.

While the frat boys parked their boozy asses in the bar car (aka the couch) for the long road to the NCAA's Final Four over the past few weeks, NYC's village cabaret club The Duplex offered an alternative "March Madness": Cabaret shows about being crazy. As a devotee of time on a different sort of couch, I was drawn in to three separate performances--from Michael Shea, Stacie Koby, and Amber Petty--seeking some music therapy to get me through the tail end of a long winter.
