Due to popular demand, Company XIV's world premiere production of Queen of Hearts has announced an extension and tickets are now available through August 18th. The show opened on April 11th and plays at Theatre XIV (383 Troutman Street, Bushwick, Brooklyn).
Company XIV, which recently presented their acclaimed sold out engagement of Nutcracker Rouge, announces their next production, the world-premiere of Queen of Hearts which will begin performances on Thursday, March 29th with an opening night set for Thursday, April 11th. Company XIV announces their 2018-2019 season kicking off with the return engagement of Ferdinand: Boylesque Bullfight inspired by the story of Ferdinand the Bull. This mix of dance and theater will be presented at their home, Theatre XIV, 383 Troutman Street in Bushwick (L Train to Jefferson Street stop). Previews will begin on September 6th, 2018 with official opening night set for Sunday, September 9th (8 PM). Ferdinand will play through October 28th.
Tommy Tune joined the all-male cast (and one woman!) of dancers and performers on stage at Company XIV's summer striptease show "Boylesque Bullfight" at Theatre XIV in Bushwick. Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), the international competition that gives accomplished young dancers the chance to vie for coveted scholarships and company contracts, held the 2017 Final Rounds at the Koch Theater in Lincoln Center on Wednesday, April 12th. On Thursday, April 13th, the annual “Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow” showcased some of this year's winners in Act I and offered stellar performances in Act II by an impressive roster of professionals. Then on Friday, April 14th, a tribute to Julio Bocca marked the occasion of his 50th birthday as part of YAGP's “Legends in Dance” series.
Last night's Career Transition For Dancers 31st Anniversary Jubilee at the New York Marriott Marquis? was a great success. The evening honored Joe Lanteri/the New York City Dance Alliance? Foundation, and philanthropists Barbara and Donald Tober for Outstanding Contributions to the World of Dance. The gala benefit evening raised $800,000 and was presented by the Lloyd E. Rigler-Lawrence E. Deutsch Foundation and benefits The Actors Fund's CTFD services for the dance community.
The Sixth Annual Dance Against Cancer was held on Monday, April 25, 2016. The event had over 500 guests in attendance and raised more than $250,000 for the American Cancer Society, which will fund lifesaving cancer research and support patient and family service programs like Hope Lodge New York City.
