Rylance Brings JERUSALEM to Broadway; Previews Begin April 2 at the Music Box Theatre

Tony and Olivier Award winning star Mark Rylance (La Bête, Boeing-Boeing) will recreate his wildly acclaimed, multi award-winning performance as Johnny ‘Rooster' Byron on Broadway in the Royal Court Theatre production of Jez Butterworth's universally heralded new play, JERUSALEM. The production, directed by Ian Rickson, will also star Mackenzie Crook (The Seagull, 'The Office') as Ginger and most of the original Royal Court cast, with full casting to be announced at a later date. JERUSALEM will open on Broadway on April 21, 2011 at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street). Previews will begin on April 2, 2011. The production will play a limited 16-week engagement.
Burstyn & Kane Join Knightley & Moss in CHILDREN'S HOUR

Ellen Burstyn and Carol Kane as well as Bryony Hannah and Tobias Menzies are to join the previously announced Keira Knightley and Elisabeth Moss in Ian Rickson's production of Lillian Hellman's The Children's Hour. The Children's Hour, produced by Sonia Friedman Productions & Scott Landis, will have its first preview at the Comedy Theatre on 22 January 2011 with press night on 9 February and is booking until 2 April 2011.
Burstyn, Kane to Star in West End's CHILDREN'S HOUR?

According to a report by Baz Bamigboye for UK Daily Mail, Ellen Burstyn and Carol Kane are in talks to star in the upcoming West End production of The Children's Hour. Ian Rickson is set to direct the production, while Keira Knightley and Elisabeth Moss are attached to the project as well.

The New York Times reports this morning that Mark Rylance, currently starring in La Bete alongside David Hyde Pierce and Joanna Lumley at the Music Box Theatre on Broadway, may be reprising his role as Johnny 'Rooster' Byron in Jez Butterworth's award-winning play, Jerusalem, on Broadway this season.

As BroadwayWorld reported last week, Ian Rickson will direct Keira Knightley and Elisabeth Moss in Lillian Hellman's The Children's Hour due to open in the West End in early 2011 for a limited run that will shutter in the spring.
The New York Times suggests today that the production could be bound for Broadway in the fall of 2011, taking a hiatus to accommodate Knightley and Mosses respective filming schedules next summer.

Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that film star Keira Knightley is working out details to appear in the West End in Lillian Hellman's The Children's Hour in early 2011, to be directed by Ian Rickson. It's said that if successful, Broadway will be next for the show.

The new Broadway production of George Bernard Shaw's play Mrs. Warren's Profession will star Tony Award winner Cherry Jones as 'Kitty Warren' & Golden Globe winner Sally Hawkins making her Broadway debut as 'Vivie Warren.' Whatsonstage.com is reporting that Michael Sheen will be the latest actor to take on a high profile performance of Hamlet in the Young Vic's production this year. The production will premiere in the winter of 2011, however, exact dates have yet to be announced.
