On Thursday, Chaz Bono ('Dancing with the Stars') visited with the company of SOUTHERN COMFORT, the new hit musical about transgender friends in rural Georgia, at CAP21 (18 West 18th Street, 5th floor). Based on Kate Davis' award-winning documentary, the musical has recently been extended through November 5.

CAP 21 Theatre Company announces a one-week extension of the hit new musical SOUTHERN COMFORT, by Dan Collins (book and lyrics) and Julianne Wick Davis (music), based on Kate Davis' 2001 Sundance award-winning documentary about transgender friends in rural Georgia.

RAGNAROK, written by Katherine Harroff plays in collaboration with members of the Live-Action Role-Playing Community of San Diego.

Houston's Theatre Under the Stars' (TUTS) season opens with an uninspiring production of Guys and Dolls plagued by lackluster performances by two of the show's leads. However, gorgeous male harmonies and a brilliant performance by Jennifer Cody as Miss Adelaide elevate the production.

I usually choose not to review workshop productions, but, in regard to Deborah Johnson's Tsarina, breaking the rule proved worthwhile. The show has such great potential. This is also the highest weekly gross for any Broadway musical production featuring both music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The production, which opened to rave reviews on September 12, 2011, is currently playing a limited engagement through January 22, 2012 at the Marquis Theatre.
