The Boston Playwrights' Theatre (BPT) production of BACK THE NIGHT opens this week.

The Vilcek Foundation just announced the winners of its annual Vilcek Prizes, recognizing immigrant contributions to the American arts and sciences. The 2016 Vilcek Prize in Theatre, presented to an immigrant artist with a record of major achievement in his/her field, is awarded to Blanka Zizka, the recipient of a $100,000 prize.

The Huntington Theatre Company will present the powerful memoir August Wilson's How I Learned What I Learned, co-conceived and directed by Todd Kreidler (Guess Who's Coming to Dinner adapter at the Huntington) and featuring Eugene Lee (Radio Golf, Gem of the Ocean, and The Piano Lesson at the Huntington), both longtime Wilson collaborators. Performances begin Saturday, March 5 and continue through April 3, 2016 in the BU Theatre / Avenue of the Arts.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the West Coast premiere of THE METROMANIACS by supremely clever playwright David Ives (All in the Timing, Time Flies). This uproarious new 'translaptation' of a classic French farce, Alexis Piron's La Metromanie, will be directed by one of America's most renowned stage directors, Michael Kahn, presented in association with Shakespeare Theatre Company.

?Pride Films and Plays is excited to present the World Premiere of David Valdes Greenwood's comedy Raggedy And, opening March 12, 2016 at Rivendell Theater. Delia Kropp will be the first transgender actress to portray a trans character for a major Chicago stage production.

The Huntington Theatre Company will present the Obie Award-winning drama MILK LIKE SUGAR by Huntington Playwriting Fellow Kirsten Greenidge (Luck of the Irish) and directed by Huntington Associate Producer M. Bevin O'Gara (Becoming Cuba). Performances begin today, January 29 and continue through February 27, 2016 in the Roberts Studio Theatre in the South End / Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

In conjunction with its current production of Milk Like Sugar, the Huntington Theatre Company will host a number of special events and post-show conversations. Admission to onsite post-show events is free with a ticket to Milk Like Sugar, available at huntingtontheatre.org/milk-like-sugar, by phone at 617 266 0800, or in person at the BU Theatre (264 Huntington Avenue) and Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA (527 Tremont Street) box offices. Tickets start at $25. Performances begin Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

Key West's Red Barn Theatre will soon present the Regional Premiere of Buyer & Cellar, a one-man show by playwright Jonathan Tolins. Enjoying immediate success at the non-profit Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Buyer & Cellar moved to the Barrow Street Theatre for an Off-Broadway run. Playing to sold-out houses for months, Buyer & Cellar received an Off-Broadway extension until April of 2014. The critically acclaimed production went on to receive a Chicago engagement followed by a US Tour through November 2014.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre continues its 2015-16 Season with the regional premiere of "Tinker to Evers to Chance," the touching new work from playwright Mat Smart about mothers, daughters, and baseball. The story spans a century of Chicago Cubs fandom, and resonates with honest questions about love, heartbreak, and hope. MRT Artistic Director Sean Daniels will direct.

The Huntington Theatre Company's production of A Confederacy of Dunces became the highest-grossing show in the company's 33-year history, and according to the Daily News, it might be heading to Broadway next. AN insider revealed: 'The creatives will be fine-tuning the production and hoping for a run either in London or another U.S. city before Broadway next season.'
