Tom Stoppard's ARCADIA to Begin Today at Central Square Theater

The Nora Theatre Company is proud to present the Tom Stoppard's ARCADIA March 31 - May 1, 2016. ARCADIA is directed by The Nora's Artistic Director, Lee Mikeska Gardner. The press performance is Monday, April 4 at 7:30PM.

A DOLL'S HOUSE Completes Huntington's 2016-17 Season

Huntington Theatre Company, the 2013 recipient of the Regional Theatre Tony Award and Boston magazine's Best Theatre of 2013 and 2014, announces that playwright Bryony Lavery's acclaimed adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House will complete its 2016-2017 Season. The adaptation of this iconic classic will be directed by Melia Bensussen (Awake and Sing!, Luck of the Irish), and the play joins the previously announced six titles in the 2016-2017 Season.

NCTC's 35th Anniversary Season to Feature World Premieres & More

Last night, at New Conservatory Theater Center's annual Season Announcement Party for subscribers, donors, artists and press, NCTC Founder & Artistic Director Ed Decker announced the line-up for the 2016-17 subscription season, which marks the 35th anniversary of the company. Regarded nationally and internationally as San Francisco's Premier LGBQI and Allied Theatre Company, NCTC breaks new ground with a season that features eight powerhouse plays and musicals, including three world premieres developed through NCTC's New Play Development Lab.

Steve Yockey's BLACKBERRY WINTER Begins Tonight at New Rep Theatre

New Repertory Theatre announces the National New Play Network (NNPN) Rolling World Premiere of BLACKBERRY WINTER, tonight, March 26, through April 17, 2016 in the Charles Mosesian Theater at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA. The press opening will be Monday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. 

Gina Gionfriddo's World Premiere CAN YOU FORGIVE HER? Begins Tonight at Huntington

The Huntington Theatre Company presents the world premiere of CAN YOU FORGIVE HER? by two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Gina Gionfriddo (Becky Shaw and Rapture, Blister, Burn) and directed by Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois (A Little Night Music and Smart People). Performances begin tonight, March 25, and continue through April 24, 2016 at the South End / Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA. 

CATF Sets 2016 Season

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University has announced its 2016 line-up featuring five new American plays, including three world premieres. Theater Festival Producing Director Ed Herendeen has chosen scripts from Christina Anderson, Allison Gregory, Chisa Hutchinson, two-time OBIE-Award winner, Susan Miller, and Ronan Noone. 

Tony Abatemarco & David Nevell to Star in A WALK IN THE WOODS at ICT

Can personal bonds bridge political chasms? John Henry Davis directs Tony Abatemarco and David Nevell in a brilliant and funny play of ideas by Lee Blessing. A Walk in the Woods opens April 29 at International City Theatre, with two low-priced previews set for April 27 and April 28.

BWW Review: BOOTYCANDY: Shock Therapy

The New England premiere of Robert O'Hara's BOOTYCANDY at SpeakEasy Stage Company is based on the author's own experiences of growing up black and gay in America. Similar in structure and tone to THE COLORED MUSEUM, it is a series of loosely connected vignettes that rely on humor and satire to confront racial, sexual, and cultural stereotypes. Summer L. Williams directs an outstanding cast of five actors who portray nearly two dozen characters.

Courtney Stewart Wins MA 2016 Poetry Out Loud Champion for Third Time

Springfield Central High School senior Courtney Stewart was named Massachusetts's 2016 Poetry Out Loud Champion Sunday at Boston's Old South Meeting House. He bested 24 other finalists to earn the top honor. Stewart is the first contestant in Massachusetts to win the title three times. First runner-up was Meloee Nazaire, a senior from Revere High School, and second runner-up was Ben Cohen, a sophomore from Needham High School. This is Ben's second year placing in the top three in Massachusetts.
