The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) and Broadway in Columbus (BIC) today announced the 2016-17 PNC Broadway in Columbus season. The five-show season boasts four productions never before seen in Columbus including Tony Award-winning Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, Disney's The Little Mermaid, The Bodyguard, and the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Beautiful - The Carole King Musical. The 2016-17 lineup also includes a brand new, Tony Award-winning production of Roundabout Theatre Company's Cabaret.

Audiences at tonight's preview of WAITRESS got to see a very special performance when part of the set for the diner stopped working. While the show was paused so that the crew could make the necessary adjustments - the show's Grammy nominated composer/lyricist Sara Bareilles got on stage to sing a cut song from the show as well as 'Part of Your World' - a Disney classic by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.

Adam Sandler attended the musical over Easter weekend and posed for a picture backstage with stars Adam Jacobs (Aladdin) and Tony winner James Monroe Iglehart (Genie). Check it out below!

We continue our look at Austin theatre companies and producers with Andy Berkovsky and The City Theatre Company. In their ten year history, they have been recognized by the Austin Critics Table Awards, the B. Iden Payne Awards, the Central Texas Excellence in Theatre Awards, Central Texas Live Theatre, and twice have been named 'Best Theatre Company' by Austin American-Statesman's Austin 360. Most recently, Artistic Director Berkovsky was honored as 2015 Best Director by the Central Texas Excellence in Live Theatre Awards. The company is a nonprofit arts organization and is sponsored in part by the Austin Creative Alliance and the Austin Cultural Arts Division.
We sat down with Andy to get a little more information about him and The City Theatre as they celebrate their 10th anniversary at the current location.
