This year, for the first time, theatre lovers in Washington and around the world were able to watch the nomination announcements live via webcast at theatrewashington.org, Facebook, or on the Livestream. SOUNDING BECKETT - a singular evening of theater and music that pairs three plays by Samuel Beckett from his 'ghost period' with new works by contemporary composers written expressly in response to those plays - will be presented tonight, September 14-23 at the Classic Stage Company (136 E. 13 St.) in Manhattan.

It was a starry Monday night at DC's Warner Theatre. Members of the local theater community came out from DC, Maryland and Virginia to celebrate the best and the brightest from last season. The evening was sprinkled with area favorites, a politician or two and even a respected film star.

Tonight, April 23, 2012, theatreWashington will honor 153 nominated artists and present three special awards to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to Washington professional theatre.
