Amirah Sackett's Al Qalb: Ancient Muslim Poetry Meets Hip-Hop Dance At The University Of Saint Joseph

The Autorino Center for the Arts at the University of Saint Joseph will present hip hop dancer-choreographer Amirah Sackett's world premiere performance Al Qalb on Friday, Apr. 12, 2019 at 7:30pm in the Hoffman Auditorium. In this groundbreaking event featuring local street dance professionals from Studio 860, Sackett will fuse hip hop moves, world music, and the poetry of Sufi mystic Rumi.

BWW Interview: Theatre Life with Kristin Chenoweth

Today's subject, Kristin Chenoweth, has been living her theatre life to the fullest since 1993 when Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ cast her as the ingénue in their production of Animal Crackers. The show effectively launched her career and she went on to become a Tony Award-winning actress, and a highly successful recording and concert artist. She has also made many appearances on television and in film. History Announces Return of Live Television Event EVEL LIVE 2

HISTORY announces the return of the unprecedented live television event 'Evel Live 2' premiering Sunday, July 7 at 8PM ET. As part of the network's third annual Car Week, the live broadcast produced in partnership with Nitro Circus will follow athletes, including champion freestyle motocross athlete Axell Hodges and female freestyle motocross athlete Vicki Golden, as they set out to break world records with three jaw-dropping motorcycle stunts. Professional motorsports icon, Travis Pastrana, will return to co-host the special.

Jack Stehlin's critically acclaimed The New American Theatre celebrates one year in its new home on Wilton Place in Hollywood with the world premiere of Boxing Lessons, a ferociously dark, savagely funny new comedy by John Bunzel (63 Trillion, Death of a Buick). Stehlin directs a top-flight cast for an April 26 opening on NAT's main stage in the company's newly refurbished space. Together, they put the capital 'D' in family Dysfunction through June 2. Low-priced previews begin April 19.

Since 2011 Mezzo-soprano Ginger Costa-Jackson has sung the title role in 12 different productions of Bizet's Carmen. She will star in yet another this month for San Diego Opera. From here it's on to rehearsals for nine performances of Bizet's masterwork at Seattle Opera. Is the singer tiring of Carmen? Not even close. She loves the character's sense of freedom and empowerment, and works with each new director to make her performance even more convincing.
