Cutting Ball Theater Sets 2014-15 Season: SUPERHEROES, ANTIGONE, MT. MISERY & More

San Francisco's cutting-edge Cutting Ball Theater proudly announces the lineup for its 16th season. The main stage season opens in November with the World Premiere of SUPERHEROES, written and directed by Sean San Jose (Campo Santo), followed by Sophocles' ANTIGONE in February, directed by Cutting Ball Associate Artistic Director Paige Rogers, in a new translation by Daniel Sullivan. Cutting Ball presents the World Premiere of resident playwright Andrew Saito's MT. MISERY in May. RISK IS THIS...THE CUTTING BALL NEW EXPERIMENTAL PLAYS FESTIVAL returns in May to round out the season with five new works, including two new plays from resident playwright Andrew Saito, in staged readings that push the boundaries of what theater can be. In addition to the main stage season, Cutting Ball Theater continues its Hidden Classics Reading Series with five new installments. The entire 2014-15 season will be staged in San Francisco at the Cutting Ball Theater in residence at EXIT on Taylor (277 Taylor Street at Ellis). Single tickets on sale August 1. Northwestern University Announces its Upcoming Productions for this May Including MOBY DICK and CHARLOTTE'S WEB

The final performances of a world premiere of a mainstage production based on an epic sea story and a play about an African-American actress who must choose between her principles and a plum role, are among the May events presented by Northwestern University's Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts -- formerly known as the Theatre and Interpretation Center (TIC) at Northwestern University.

The 15th anniversary of the Midtown International Theatre Festival continues. Spend this weekend with John Chatterton and his venerable midtown festival series. Saturday & Sunday at Roy Arias Theatres will be the premiere of 20 new short plays as part of the on-going celebrated Short Play Lab series this weekend, April 26 and 27.

Set Sail on an Epic Voyage with MOBY DICK at Northwestern University, Now thru 5/4

'Moby Dick' -- Herman Melville's saga about Captain Ahab's pursuit of a great white whale -- will make its first fully-staged debut today, April 25 through May 4, and will be the subject of a free symposium at Northwestern University on April 12. The Melville classic is directed and adapted by David Catlin.

The Neo-Futurists announce their 2014-15 season to include a TML pre-show event INFILTRATION, curated by Jane Beachy, Joseph R. Varisco and Malic White; Pseudo-Chum written by Sean Benjamin and directed by Carolyn Shoemaker-Benjamin; Redletter, created by Lisa Buscani and directed by Jen Ellison, Trust Us/Screw You, created by Dan Kerr-Hobert and Phil Ridarelli, and another great year of the smash hit, Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind. The Neo-Futurists also welcome the addition of Artistic Director, Kurt Chiang.

The Dallas Opera Announces Return of Heggie and Scheer's MOBY-DICK, 11/04/2016

The Dallas Opera tonight capped a phenomenally successful season with the announcement that the original Leonard Foglia production of composer Jake Heggie and librettist Gene Scheer's powerful twenty-first century masterpiece, MOBY-DICK, will be returning to the site of its triumphant 2010 world premiere. This limited engagement will begin onFriday, November 4, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center.
