Five-time Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Terence Blanchard will compose original music for the world premiere on Broadway of THE MOTHERF**KER WITH THE HAT by Stephen Adly Guirgis starring Bobby Cannavale, Chris Rock, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Annabella Sciorra and Yul Vázquez. Directed by Anna D. Shapiro, the production will open on Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street, New York City). The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association's 2010/11 Toyota Symphonies for Youth (TSFY) concert series at Walt Disney Concert Hall continues on Saturday, February 19, at 11 a.m., with an original concert production designed to educate young audiences about the differences and similarities of jazz for the orchestra and for a quintet. Young audiences will learn about listening and teamwork, how to 'speak jazz,' and be introduced to improvisation and scatting through participation and musical demonstrations featuring excerpts from Dvork's Symphony No. 9, Mingus' Better Git It In Your Soul, Bernstein's Times Square 1944, Ellington's It Don't Mean A Thing and two special arrangements of Itsy Bitsy Spider and Arachnology, arranged especially for this production. This concert repeats on Saturday, February 26 at 11 a.m.

Tonight at MusiCares, BroadwayWorld.com learned the set list for tonight's event. We've learned that tonight's MusiCares event is breaking all records with tonight's tribute to the 2011 Person of the Year - Barbra Streisand. All this week, some of the most talented and awesome musicians, actors and singers have been coming and going to the convention center in downtown Los Angeles, right next door to the Staples Center where the Grammys will be on Sunday evening.

The legendary Barbra Streisand will be honored by the Recording Academy as the MusiCares Person of the Year. She will be acknowledged for her achievements at a February 11 dinner and concert, which is to feature performances by Kristin Chenoweth, Tony Bennett, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Barry Manilow, Diana Krall, and more. Also set for appearances are GLEE cast members Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison and Darren Criss.
The Sheldon presents Peter Martin Music: Peter Martin, solo piano, February 10, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the perfect acoustics of the Sheldon Concert Hall.
