Omar Sosa New AfroCuban Quartet Continues Harris Center's FOUR SLICES OF CUBA Tonight

A musician extraordinaire--composer, arranger, pianist, percussionist, improvisator, and communicator-Omar Sosa has performed numerous concerts all around the world. He's winner of the 10th Annual Independent Music Awards in the Jazz Album category, and the recipient of a lifetime achievement award from the Smithsonian Associates in Washington, D.C. for contribution to the development of Latin jazz in the United States. Omar Sosa brings his amazing talents to Harris Center for the Arts as part of the Four Slices of Cuba series, a Cuban music festival.

Chris Botti Announces 10th Annual Holiday Residency at Blue Note Jazz Club

Blue Note Jazz Club, one of the world's most iconic jazz and blues venues based in Greenwich Village, has announced world renowned trumpeter Chris Botti's milestone 10th Annual Holiday Residency. The three-week engagement at the club will run Monday, December 15, 2014 through Sunday, January 4, 2015, with two shows each evening (including Christmas Eve and New Years Eve performances).

The 2014 Jazz at the Bowl Series begins tonight, July 9, 2014 as The Count Basie Orchestra and special guests celebrate the music of Ella Fitzgerald. The series also features, among others, Boz Scaggs, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Herbie Hancock, a Christian McBride-directed James Brown Celebration, John Legend recreating Marvin Gaye's What's Going On, Peter Frampton, Marcus Miller, and more. The season marks Herbie Hancock's fifth year as Creative Chair for Jazz.

In the history of the Holocaust, the fate of Hungarian Jews stands out due to the exceptional speed with which their deportation was carried out by the Hungarian authorities cooperating with the Eichmann bureau very late in the war, in summer 1944. Almost half a million people were deported in less than three months, and over half a million were murdered in the course of World War II in forced labour units, in labor and death camps and in various pogroms conducted by Arrowcross men.
