IN THE HEIGHTS Comes to Orange County Performing Arts Center 8/3-15

IN THE HEIGHTS, winner of four 2008 Tony Awards and the 2008 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album, is coming to the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa from August 3 - 15, 2010. Note: In The Heights will play the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles June 22 - July 25, 2010 prior to the Center's engagement.

Cellist Ruslan Biryukov To Donate Performance Time In Sinfonia Concertante, Op. 125, 5/23

Glendale Philharmonic Orchestra Founder and critically acclaimed Russian Cellist, Ruslan Biryukov, will perform composer Sergei Prokofiev's 'Sinfonia Concertante, Op. 125' as a Guest Soloist with two different orchestras in two separate upcoming concerts to be held here in the Southland. Biryukov will waive his appearance fees and donate his time to appear in each concert during these challenging economic times.

O.C.'s Pacific Symphony Welcomes Joshua Bell, 5/18

A season of celebration in honor of Music Director Carl St.Clair's 20th Anniversary culminates on Tuesday, May 18, at 8 p.m., in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, with a very special evening of music, featuring classical music superstar Joshua Bell. Like no other violinist of recent times, Bell has captured the imaginations of both critics and audiences; Interview magazine once said his playing 'does nothing less than tell human beings why they bother to live.' The evening's concert was specially programmed by St.Clair to include music that holds special meaning for him, with guest artists he considers close friends, including pianist Benjamin Pasternack, baritone Christòpheren Nomura, and Pacific Chorale, led by John Alexander.

Pacific Symphony Youth Ensembles Presents Season-Ending Concert Series, 5/15-5/16

Pacific Symphony Youth Ensembles-one of the premier education programs for young musicians ages 11-21 in Southern California-perform concerts in several locations each season, but only once in the same location on the same weekend! A festival of sorts, this unique opportunity to hear Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra (PSYO), Pacific Symphony Santiago Strings (PSSS) and Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensembles (PSYWE), is also the perfect sampling of these impressive musicians of tomorrow. This year, PYSWE kicks off the culminating weekend of music with 'Thundering Winds,' on Saturday, May 15, at 2 p.m., while PSSS and PSYO join forces for 'Celebration in Sound,' on Sunday, May 16, with PSSS at 2:30 p.m. and PSYO at 4 p.m.-all in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

Bloomingdales At South Coast Plaza Celebrates DREAMGIRLS 4/12-30

To celebrate DREAMGIRLS' upcoming visit to the Center, Bloomingdale's South Coast Plaza is creating a special 'Get the Look' boutique inspired by the stunning costumes from the sensational new stage production direct from Harlem's world-famous Apollo Theater in New York City.

OCA Upgrades Hearing Impaired System at Segerstrom Starting April 21

The Orange County Performing Arts Center upgraded its Sennheiser audio system for the hearing impaired in Segerstrom Hall. The new system is radio frequency-based, replacing the original infrared system which will improve audio quality and availability throughout the hall with no dead spaces as could occur with infrared signals. Patrons with hearing impairment can take advantage of this free service at any performance. A lightweight traditional headset or earbuds plug into the receiver, which is the size of a cell phone and fits easily into a shirt or coat pocket. The new system will also be available for docent-led tours.

Orange County Performing Arts Center Offers Musical Theater Camp, 6/22-26

The Orange County Performing Arts Center is offering local high school students the opportunity to join its brand-new weeklong musical theater summer camp from June 22 to 26 on the Center's campus. Students will be educated in musical theater technique and repertoire by some of the industry's leading professional artists and educators, including Tony®Award-nominated actress Erin Dilly and Danny Gurwin, Broadway star and faculty member of American Musical & Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles.

The Inland Valley Symphony, Anthony Parnther, Music Director and Conductor, will present "ALL BRAHMS," a concert of the music of Romantic composer, Johannes Brahms featuring renowned Guest Artists, Russian cellist, Ruslan Biryukov, and award-winning violinist, Danielle Belen, performing the rarely heard "Double Concerto For Violin and Cello, Op. 102." Other works to be performed on the program include: "Tragic Overture, Op. 81" and "Symphony in F major, Op. 90." Two performances of the same concert will be given in various Southland locations.

Orange County Performance Art Center’s Free Movie Mondays Return This Summer

The Orange County Performing Arts Center's Free or All series continues this summer with the enormously popular and eagerly awaited return of free Movie Mondays on the community plaza. This year's line-up will be the biggest and best ever with five great movies: the timeless classic The Wizard of Oz with Judy Garland; the screwball comedy Some Like it Hot starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon; the Dickensian musical Oliver! being presented in partnership with public radio station KCRW-Santa Monica (89.9 FM and www.KCRW.com); the coming-of-age story Dirty Dancing featuring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze; and the inspiring documentary about New York City school students learning to dance in Mad Hot Ballroom, which was chosen in an audience poll last summer. The Center has always been 'the place' in Orange County to experience Broadway's best and brightest, and Movie Mondays offers audiences the most fun and exciting musical and dance films under the stars and all for free.

HAIRSPRAY Ends Run at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, 4/11

HAIRSPRAY, Broadway's musical comedy phenomenon that inspired a major motion picture will end its run at the Orange County Performing Arts Center April 11 in Segerstrom Hall. This fantastically fun musical, winner of eight 2003 Tony® Awards including Best Musical, enjoyed an incredible six-year run on Broadway. The 2007 West End production of HAIRSPRAY was nominated for a record-breaking 11 Olivier Awards and nabbed four, including the top category Best New Musical, and also won Best New Musical in all of Britain's other top awards programs, including the Evening Standard, Critic's Circle and Whatsonstage Awards

O.C.'s Pacific Symphony Welcomes PINK MARTINI, 4/8-4/10

PINK MARTINI, the wildly-diverse, genre-crossing, world-inspired Big-Band ensemble joins Pacific Symphony Pops for a unique night of music.The highly electric and eclectic group draws its musical inspiration from all over the world, effortlessly crossing the categories of pop, jazz and classical to create their own brand of musical fusion. While the Portland, Ore.-based, 12-member ensemble has been making waves for more than a decade with its fresh take on vintage big band sound, blending a multilingual mix of 1940s jazz, global rhythms and more-it appears for the first time with the Symphony, led by Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman, on Thursday-Saturday, April 8-10, at 8 p.m, in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.
