Shakespeare & Company presents Intimate Apparel, written by two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage and directed by long-time company member Daniela Varon. This winner of the 2004 Steinberg New Play Award, New York Drama Critics' Circle Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award runs in the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre from July 20 through August 13, 2017.

Even though we are in the slow summer season for theatre news, show and casting announcements have been slowly trickling in so that the 2017-2018 Broadway season is beginning to come into sharper focus. The slate is filled with high-profile offerings like FROZEN and HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD, exciting revivals including M. BUTTERFLY, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, and MY FAIR LADY, intriguing new works like THE BAND'S VISIT and JUNK, and curious newcomers, i.e. SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS and ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE.

Signature Theatre has announced the full cast and creative team for A Little Night Music directed by Signature Theatre Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Follies, Gigi). Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Tony Award-winning musical, set in 1900 Sweden, revolves around a tangled web of love affairs.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater will host special post-show conversations with notable guest panelists during the run of John Strand's critically-acclaimed political drama The Originalist, based on the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

Producer Stacey Mindich has just announced that Dear Evan Hansen, the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, has recouped its production costs in just 8.5 months on Broadway. Capitalized at $9.5 million, Dear Evan Hansen opened at the Music Box Theatre to rave reviews on December 4, 2016, where it's broken all box office records and been playing to standing-room-only crowds since.

The Gateway will take Long Island by storm at The Patchogue Theatre with the international smash hit Mamma Mia!, and will dazzle the audience from July 19th through August 5th.  Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus' Mamma Mia!, is based on the songs of ABBA and has broken box office records worldwide having been seen by more than 60 million people.  With non-stop laughs and explosive dance numbers, the show features hit songs that include "Super Trouper," "Dancing Queen," "Knowing Me, Knowing You," "Take a Chance on Me," "Thank You for the Music," "Money, Money, Money," "The Winner Takes It All," and "SOS."

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, celebrates the opening of Winter by Julie Jensen on the third leg of its Rolling World Premiere at Central Works (Berkeley, CA, July 15-August 13, 2017).

The York Theatre Company, dedicated to the development of new musicals and preserving musical gems from the past, has announced the 2017 summer New2NY Series presentation of the new musical Me & Ella, written and performed by Andrea Frierson (Once on This Island, The Lion King), direction by the Tony Award-winning team of Murphy Cross and Paul Kreppel (Jay Johnson: The Two and Only), with music direction and arrangements by Ron Abel (Hazel, A Musical Maid in America, 'Happily Divorced').

The Utah Symphony today announced a special performance of Holiday Hits with The Midtown Men on December 12, 2017 at Abravanel Hall. The group with four original cast members from Broadway's "Jersey Boys" will croon yuletide classics such as 'Winter Wonderland,' 'Let It Snow,' and 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,' as well as their signature renditions of the greatest rock and roll hits of the 1960s. This swashbuckling romp abounds with comedy, danger, and romance. Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival's production of Ken Ludwig's The Three Musketeers previews July 12 and 13, opens July 14, and continues through August 6 in repertory with Shakespeare's As You Like It at the Labuda Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of DeSales University.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full casting and creative team for the world premiere of AIN'T TOO PROUD-THE TEMPTATIONS MUSICAL. The musical stage production will be directed by Tony Award winner Des McAnuff. Berkeley Rep presents the show by special arrangement with Ira Pittelman and Tom Hulce (American Idiot, Spring Awakening).

Steppenwolf Theatre Company announces a change in the casting of the LookOut Series Concert Reading of Standup Shakespeare. This event, which is a benefit concert reading for the theatre, will still feature the extraordinary talent of Steppenwolf co-founder Jeff Perry and Broadway legend Alice Ripley. Joining them will be Grammy and Clio Award-winning Opera singer Thomas Young, who was in the original Off-Broadway production directed by Mike Nichols and is featured on the Standup Shakespeare cabaret review album recorded in 1995.
