American Museum of Natural History Presents 3D Films Beginning with MYSTERIES OF THE UNSEEN WORLD Today

For the first time ever, the American Museum of Natural History will show films in 3D digital beginning today, January 10, withMysteries of the Unseen World-a new giant-screen adventure that transports audiences to hidden dimensions too small, too fast, or too slow for the human eye. Produced by National Geographic Entertainment and Day's End Pictures, Mysteries of the Unseen World is narrated by Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker.

Mark Rylance-Led TWELFTH NIGHT and RICHARD III Recoup $3.1 Million Investment

The all-male Shakespeare's Globe repertory productions of William Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT and RICHARD III have recouped their $3.1 million capitalization costs this week, officially entering the hit column. The productions, which opened on Broadway on November 10, 2013 to ecstatic and universal critical praise, have been playing to capacity crowds at Broadway's Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street), where they have broken the house record several times.

Gotham Chamber Opera Comes to the Met Museum, 2/26-27

Met Museum Presents and Gotham Chamber Opera presents a double bill co-produced with and staged at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, consisting of Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda by Monteverdi, and a newly commissioned work, I Have No Stories to Tell You, by Gotham Chamber Opera Composer-In-Residence Lembit Beecher, on February 26 and February 27, 2014 at 7pm at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 Fifth Avenue (at 82nd Street), NYC.

Emma Hunton, Griffin Matthews & More to Star in World Premiere of Diane Paulus-Helmed WITNESS UGANDA at A.R.T.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University announced today the cast and creative team for the world premiere production of Witness Uganda, created by Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews, directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus, with choreography by Darrell Grand Moultrie. The production begins performances at the Loeb Drama Center at 64 Brattle Street, Cambridge on February 4, and will run through March 16. It is available for press viewing from Wednesday, February 12, at 7:30pm.

Smithsonian Channel Added to Time Warner Cable's Preferred TV Package

Smithsonian Channel has launched on Time Warner Cable's widely distributed Preferred TV Package throughout TWC's footprint effective immediately. This allows Time Warner Cable's Preferred TV subscribers to see the channel in both standard and high definition. Smithsonian Channel was previously only available for an additional subscriber fee through the TWC HD tier. The announcement was made today by Tom Hayden, President of Smithsonian Channel.

LBO and Museum of African American Art Team for DUKE AND THE RENAISSANCE, 1/12

On Sunday, January 12, 2014, Long Beach Opera (LBO) and the Museum of African American Art come together for an afternoon devoted to the Harlem Renaissance. As a lead-in to LBO's production of Duke Ellington's rarely performed opera Queenie Pie, "Duke and the Renaissance" will explore the rich variety of art, music and literature that came out of 1920s-1930s Harlem. Highlights include a guided tour of the museum, an all-Ellington live performance, bubbly drinks and pie (what else?) in a memorable tribute to an American icon and Harlem's era of cultural brilliance.

Go Comedy! For A Cure Set for Tonight

Event will welcome improvisers from across Metro Detroit including Tim Robinson of Saturday Night Live and featured guests WDET's Craig Fahle and Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson (FERNDALE MI) Tonight, improvisers from across metro Detroit will perform on stage for 24 hours during Go Comedy! For A Cure, a 24-hour improv marathon to benefit Gilda's Club, The American Cancer Society and the Tim Hayden Memorial Scholarship Fund, which gives scholarships to graduating Kettering High School students who are going on to study Theater. The marathon begins at 6:00pm and continues through 6:00pm Saturday, December 28. Tickets ($10-$20) are available in performance blocks online at www.gocomedy.net or in person at the Go Comedy! box office. A $100, 24-hour pass is also available.

Steve Rannazzisi Set for Comedy Works Larimer Square, 1/23-25

Actor and comedian Rannazzisi got his first taste of television success as one of the smart-ass cast members on MTV's Punk'd. After being recognized on stage by Ashton Kutcher at the Comedy Store in West Hollywood, Steve was quickly signed up for the show. Since then Steve has continued to make audiences laugh in television, feature films and on comedy stages across the country.
