To coincide with this evening's premiere, Sonia Friedman Productions just released brand new production shots for the show, which has been in preview performances since 19 November. According to The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye, Liisi LaFontaine and stage vet Ibinabo Jack will join Amber Riley in the upcoming West End production of DREAM GIRLS. LaFontaine will take on the role of Deena Jones, with Jack playing Lorrell Robinson. As previously announced, Riley has been tapped to star as Effie White.

GLEE's Amber Riley has quite the backup power for her nights off in DREAMGIRLS the West End. THE VOICE UK contestant Ruth Brown and THE X FACTOR's Karen Mav will alternate in the role of 'Effie' on Wednesdays in London, according to the Daily Mail.

Tisch New Theatre will present HAIRSPRAY, the musical based on the 1988 film written and directed by John Waters, April 1-4 at the NYU Skirball Center. With music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman, and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, HAIRSPRAY the musical premiered on Broadway in 2002 and won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The Brazilian stage production of the musical created out from one of the great movie box office hits in the 1990s - The Full Monty - conquered the cariocas in their season of 5 months, directed by Tadeu Aguiar and Portuguese version by Artur Xexeo. In this musical production version, with a book by Terrence McNally and score by David Yazbek, six unemployed steelworkers, low on both cash and prospects, decide to present a strip act at a local club after seeing their wives' enthusiasm for a touring company of Chippendales-type club. One of them, Jerry, declares that their show will be better than the Chippendales dancers because they'll go 'the full monty'-strip all the way. As they prepare for the show, working through their fears, self-consciousness, and anxieties, they overcome their inner demons and find strength in their camaraderie.
