West End Players Guild continues its 100th season of theatre in the Central West End with an evening of one-act plays titled A WOMAN'S PLACE. An ensemble cast will appear in the four short plays presenting women in extraordinary circumstances. A WOMAN'S PLACE opens on Friday, November 5, and continues through Sunday, November 14. Shows are at 8:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2:00 p.m. on Sundays, with all performances at the Union Avenue Christian Church, 733 Union Avenue.

On Sunday, October 17, Oak Park Festival Theatre will honor former Managing Director Galen Gockel for his years of tireless service to the company at a reception at The Performance Center at 1010 W. Madison in Oak Park.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) announced a one-week extension for its 2010-11 season opener, Moliere's Scapin, which marks the return of two-time Tony Award winner and A.C.T. favorite Bill Irwin to its stage.

Cesear's Forum will present Samuel Beckett's ALL THAT FALL at Kennedy's Down Under, PlayhouseSquare, Cleveland, Ohio, in a limited September/October engagement. Mr. Beckett, an Irish 'minimalist' playwright, novelist, poet and winner of the 1969 Nobel Prize in Literature, wrote in both French and English.

Tiny Tim Productions, the producers of "PUSS IN BOOTS", which was due to open at the Arts Theatre in London on 30 November, following previews from 18 November, have been left with no alternative other than to cancel the production.

The American Conservatory Theater Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Program presents Anton Chekhov's masterpiece The Three Sisters, translated by Carol Rocamora and directed by Shakespeare Santa Cruz Artistic Director Marco Barricelli, a longtime member of the A.C.T. artistic family. Barricelli was a core acting company member at A.C.T. for more than a decade and most recently received favorable notices for his appearance in last season's Vigil at A.C.T. alongside Olympia Dukakis. One of Chekhov's most popular and accessible plays, The Three Sisters explores the decay of Russia's privileged class in the haunting story of the Prozorov family. Trapped in a small provincial town with few prospects, the sisters dream of returning to urban Moscow. Along with facilitating smaller class sizes, the appointment of a full-time faculty, and extended opportunities for financial aid, the new curriculum of the three-year A.C.T. M.F.A. Program (launched last season with the incoming class of 2012) creates opportunities for collaboration among the three classes in their education and performance; The Three Sisters features members of the A.C.T. M.F.A. Program classes of 2011 and 2012. The Three Sisters runs October 13-23, 2010, at Hastings Studio Theater (77 Geary Street, San Francisco). The William & Eva Fox Foundation and Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, are pleased to announce the five recipients for the fifth round of the Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowships.

Juilliard's Drama Division announced the complete schedule for its 2010-2011 season of fully-staged productions featuring students in their fourth and final year of acting training at Juilliard. This season's plays include Lorraine Hansberry's A RAISIN IN THE SUN, directed by Jade King Carroll, October 20-24; David Auburn's PROOF, directed by Harris Yulin, November 11-15; and Chekhov's THE SEAGULL, directed by Richard Feldman, December 9-13.

The play is being presented in New York by the non-profit organization, Bitiya, in association with the Indo American Arts Council on Friday, October 8 at 8:30 p.m. at New York University's Skirball Center (566 LaGuardia Place). All proceeds from the play will benefit educational programs for under-served girls.
