Actress Salome Jens is an actor's actor. She considers acting a pure art form and is ever respectful of every single role she plays. From films like Angel Baby to Mae Olinski in TV's Mary Hartman Mary Hartman to her one-woman play About Anne, her work is passionate, thoughtful and evocative. She will be performing About Anne @ Group rep in NoHo November 19 and 20 as a benefit for the theatre. In our chat recently conducted on the stage of Group rep, she talks about the roots of About Anne (poet Anne Sexton, who struggled her entire short life with mental illness and committed suicide) and other theatrical passions.

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Harold Clurman Center for New York in Movement and Dance Theater will honor Alexandra Wells on Thursday, September 30th. The evening will feature performances by Sidra Bell Dance New York, Andrea Miller's Gallim Dance, Austin McCormick's Company XIV and more. Margie Gillis will present the MAD Spirit Award to Alexandra Wells. The event is a part of the Studio's Fifth Annual Harold Clurman Festival, which brings artists and activists together to discuss the relationship between art and social activism and which raises funds for the nonprofit.

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting will hold its 5th annual Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts this fall, bringing artists and activists together to discuss the relationship between art and social activism. Events will take place beginning on September 20th and end on October 1st.

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the cast and creative team for the West Coast Premiere of Kristoffer Diaz's Welcome to Arroyo's. Directed by Jaime Castañeda, the hip hop-infused play will run in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre Sept. 25 - Oct. 31. Previews run Sept. 25 - Sept. 29. Opening night is Thursday, Sept. 30 at 7:00 p.m. Welcome to Arroyo's will also be performed at Lincoln High School Center for the Arts Nov. 6 and 7 as part of the Globe's Southeastern San Diego Residency Project. Zayd Dohrn, award winning playwright and son of Bill Ayers, will be presenting his play, LONG WAY TO GO DOWN at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting (31 West 27th Street, Floor 3) as part of the Harold Clurman Lab Theatre. Performance dates are June 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26 at 8:00 pm and June 13, 20 and 27 at 2:00 pm.
