Merrimack Repertory Theatre to Close Season with HOME OF THE BRAVE

Merrimack Repertory Theatre will close out its season in spectacular fashion with the world premiere of Lila Rose Kaplan's farce 'Home of the Brave.' The hilarious play follows senator Bernadette Spence (played by Boston favorite Karen MacDonald) as she desperately works to persuade her family to support her run for the Presidency. Loosely inspired by Moliere's 'Tartuffe,' 'Home of the Brave' is an old-fashioned comedy for new-fashioned times, wholeheartedly embracing sheer absurdity, shameless fun, and actors running/climbing/sliding all over the place. Maybe dressed as ninjas. Or in their underwear. Yet at its core, 'Home of the Brave' remains a big-hearted love letter to the American family. MRT's Artistic Director Sean Daniels directs.

BWW Review: #popepular Thinks Global, Acts Local

To think globally and act locally in the current age of globalization might seem a little bit of a cliche; 'but it's far less common for [global] companies to really get it right because it's not just about [having] a local language website,' says The Economist. 'It means being where your customer is, speaking to them in their own language and, crucially, having culturally relevant messages and content.' Where most of these companies fail repeatedly, grassroots theater company Philippine Stagers Foundation (PSF) successfully embraces the decades-old mantra, especially resounding and resplendent in its current touring production, '#popepular: Pa'no Kung Pinoy Si Kiko?,' a new Filipino musical in Tagalog (Filipino).

BWW Review: PURE SHOCK VALUE, absurd farce confounds at None Too Fragile

Sean Derry and Alanna Romansky, Co-Artistic Directors of none too fragile have, since its founding in 2010, established the venue as a major theater in the Akron-Cleveland area. Dedicated to being an 'adventurously-bold theatrical voice,' they choose 'modern and relevant' scripts, that are 'thought-provoking, heart-touching, and, at time, principle-challenging, character-drive stories.' In other words, as they state on their blog-site, their goal is to do 'Award winning Kick-a** Theatre!'
