The first national tour of Legally Blonde The Musical will take the stage April 20-25, 2010 at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. Sorority star Elle Woods doesn't take no for an answer. Legendary costume designer ALBERT WOLSKY and world renowned scenic designer MING CHO LEE are among the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 23 at 6:30pm at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Two-time Academy Award-winner Albert Wolsky will receive the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design, and Tony Award-winning scenic designer and educator Ming Cho Lee will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design.

PEEPSHOW, Las Vegas' hottest show and striptease spectacular, brought sexy back to The Strip on Monday, March 1. Holly Madison resumed her starring role as 'Bo Peep,' a modern woman who discovers her newfound sexuality alongside Broadway vet Josh Strickland (Tarzan). Silhouette Stages, Inc. announces the regional premiere production of the celebrated musical within a comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone on May 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 8 pm and May 23 and 30 at 3 pm. All performances will take place at Slayton House on 14100 Cross Fox Lane, Columbia, MD 21044. Conni Ross and Debra Mobley direct this modern masterpiece with choreography by Lori Pryor and Timoth David Copney and music direction by Keith Tittermary.

Based on the enthusiastic patrons in attendance, it's clear to me that the musical adaptation of the 2001 Reese Witherspoon vehicle, Legally Blonde, has a pretty strong following, and seems to have struck a chord with audiences. I can understand why, since it's a lively and entertaining show filled with catchy tunes, that also manages to deliver a positive message about female empowerment. The current touring production playing the Fox Theatre (April 8 - 11, 2010) is certainly a cute and charming delight.

The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle has announced the winners and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles and Orange County theatre for the year 2009. The 41st Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards ceremony took place Monday, March 22 at the Colony Theatre in Burbank.
