Grupo Fantasma has been 'praised as one of the most important independent acts in the Latin genre and has continually defied expectations to create one of the most unique musical voices to come out of the United States in the last decade.' In 2011 they garnered further acclaim by winning a Grammy (their second such nomination) for their self-produced release El Existential on Nat Geo Music which the Wall Street Journal called 'Latin music both new and traditional…vibrant fusions that transcend easy classification.'

On June 21st from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., as part of Make Music New York, Joe's Pub will present performances at the Astor Place Cube located at Cooper Sq at Lafayette St. In its fourth year, Make Music New York (MMNY) is a unique festival of free concerts in public spaces throughout the five boroughs of New York City. MMNY takes place simultaneously with similar festivities in more than 327 cities around the world - a global celebration of music making.

The brainchild of a group of professional stage and film actors with a penchant for underground rock and severely overactive imaginations, Eelwax Jesus is an audiovisual mad scientist's experiment-a Frankensteinian endeavor that fuses theater, live music, and visual art into an unprecedented and entirely unforgettable new organism.
