Joffrey Ballet Artistic Director Ashley Wheater and Executive Director Greg Cameron announced today that Erica Lynette Edwards, a dancer with the Joffrey since 2000 who took on such roles as The Chosen One in Nijinsky's The Rite of Spring, fourth song soloist in Antony Tudor's Dark Elegies and the Fairy Godmother in Frederick Ashton's Cinderella, will retire following the engagement of Robert Joffrey's The Nutcracker (set to run at the Auditorium Theatre, December 5-28) to become the company's new Director of Community Engagement.

The Joffrey Ballet celebrates its 20th anniversary of calling Chicago home in the 2014-15 season and its annual fall engagement brings the Joffrey Premiere of a newly envisioned Swan Lake to Chicago for the first time, choreographed by one of ballet's most acclaimed choreographers, Christopher Wheeldon. This year's Snap Gala, benefiting the Photography Gala Fund—the largest single source of acquisitions support for photography at the Art Institute—was a record-breaking success. On Saturday, October 19, guests were awed by the elegant, glowing centerpieces featuring vintage slides, as well as a curtain of slides hanging from the second floor balcony made by INDO (http://theindoprojects.com/). Attendees posed in sets of classic photographs from the Art Institute's acclaimed permanent collection during cocktail hour, as well as photo booths during dessert. Alexander Gilkes—Chief Auctioneer, Phillips and Founder, Paddle 8—ran a lively and theatrical auction that capped off the evening.

The Joffrey Ballet, led by Artistic Director Ashley Wheater and Executive Director Greg Cameron, announced today that the Company has been awarded a $500,000 challenge grant from the Rudolf Nureyev Dance Foundation expressly to launch an endowment for the creation, production and performance of full-length story ballets. The new Rudolf Nureyev Fund at The Joffrey Ballet, as it will be known, represents one of the largest awarded to a single cultural institution in the Foundation's history, with the Joffrey joining such other high profile organizations as the New York City Ballet, School of American Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and The Joyce Theatre. The Joffrey Ballet will be responsible for raising an additional $1 million to complete the Fund.

The Joffrey Ballet, led by Artistic Director Ashley Wheater and Executive Director Greg Cameron, is pleased to announce that local philanthropist, Marcus Lemonis, Chairman and CEO of Camping World and Good Sam and star of CNBC's The Profit, has made a substantial leadership gift to support and enhance the ongoing work of the Joffrey's Bridge Program, a dance education residency in Chicago Public Schools. In recognition of this gift, the program will now be known as The Joffrey Ballet Lemonis Bridge Program.

The Joffrey Ballet and Artistic Director Ashley C. Wheater yesterday announced that veteran Chicago arts administrator Greg Cameron, most recently the Chief Operating Officer of WTTW/WFMT, will join the Joffrey leadership team as its new Executive Director, effective July 1, 2013. Kathleen Hechinger, who joined The Joffrey as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrator Officer in 2010 and has served as interim Executive Director since March, has been appointed to the new position of Joffrey Ballet Deputy Director.

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) presents the 76th annual fashion show, FASHION 2010, Friday, May 7. For the first time in its storied history, the fashion show takes place in the critically acclaimed Renzo Piano-designed Griffin Court of the Art Institute of Chicago's Modern Wing (159 East Monroe Avenue).
