Photo Coverage: Paige Davis Teams with Volunteers of America for Operation Backpack 2015!

Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-GNY) have launched OPERATION BACKPACK 2015, its annual drive to collect new backpacks filled with brand new, grade-specific school supplies for thousands of children living in New York City's homeless and domestic violence shelters. Broadway actress Paige Davis has been the spokesperson for OPERATION BACKPACK for the past ten years. This year, with family homelessness at an all-time high, the organization's goal is to outfit 20,000 New York City children with backpacks in time for the first day of the school year. Mickalene Thomas at Lehmann Maupin, 6/26-8/8

Lehmann Maupin is delighted to debut Tete de Femme, a new body of work by artistMickalene Thomas. In her fourth solo exhibition with the gallery, Thomas explores the intricacies of female beauty through painting and collage, focusing on how artifice serves both to mask and reveal the individual essence of her subjects. The artist will be present for an opening reception on Thursday, June 26 from 6 to 8PM.

THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY Opens Synetic Theater's 2013-14 Season Tonight

Synetic Theater kicks off its 2013-2014 season with a new adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, directed by Synetic Founder and Artistic Director Paata Tsikurishvili. Synetic's reinvention of this classic tale features dynamic movement and multimedia, and promises to be a unique fusion of visual and verbal poetry that will explore the internal and external dimensions of Wilde's only novel, which many consider his most personal work-a timelessly supernatural story of man's endless conflict with the nature of mortality.

Craig McLachlan to Lead Australian ROCKY HORROR SHOW National Tour; Launches 10 Jan. 2014 from Brisbane

Producers Howard Panter and John Frost today announced that the coveted role of Frank N Furter in the new Australian production of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show will be played by television and theatre star Craig McLachlan. The much loved iconic musical will open in January 2014 at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC, Brisbane followed by seasons at the Crown Theatre, Perth in February, and the Festival Theatre, Adelaide in March.

Lehmann Maupin Gallery Opens Mickalene Thomas Exhibition November 1

Lehmann Maupin Gallery will present Mickalene Thomas: How to Organize a Room Around A Striking Piece of Art, a two-gallery exhibition on view from 1 November 2012 - 5 January 2013 at 540 West 26th Street and 201 Chrystie Street. The artist's third solo exhibition at Lehmann Maupin will be presented in two parts: the Lower East Side gallery will comprise new large-scale paintings depicting landscapes and interior scenes as well as a series of short films created during her recent travels in Europe. In Chelsea, Thomas's first documentary film "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN" will be shown alongside paintings, photographs, and photomontages of her mother and long-time muse, Sandra Bush. Thomas will also re-create one of her tableau environments in the gallery, allowing viewers to fully immerse themselves in her world while watching the film.
