Aurora Theatre Company Now Accepting GAP Submissions

Berkeley's acclaimed Aurora Theatre Company has announced a call for submissions for its 10th anniversary season of the Global Age Project (GAP) festival of new works. The company will choose three new plays to be presented as staged readings with professional directors and actors during the GAP festival in February and March of 2015; the festival will coincide with the company's fully-staged Bay Area Premiere of Nicky Silver's (Pterodactyls, Raised in Captivity) scathingly funny Broadway hit THE LYONS, directed by Barbara Damashek (American Buffalo, Fat Pig, Private Jokes, Public Places). Each of the three prizewinners will receive a $1,000 award and their work will be considered for further development and production during Aurora Theatre Company's regular season; out of town artists will receive travel and accommodation expenses. The submission period opens June 2; deadline for play submission is July 15, 2014. Finalists will be announced in early December 2014. Aurora Theatre Company is excited to offer online script submission for the GAP. Playwrights may upload their submissions directly to Aurora Theatre Company's website at www.auroratheatre.org; there is a $20 submission fee per play manuscript.

Crowded Fire Theater Stages SHE RODE HORSES LIKE THE STOCK EXCHANGE, Now thru 4/12

The Crowded Fire Theater (CFT) 2014 season begins with the World Premiere of Amelia Roper's She Rode Horses Like the Stock Exchange, her first play to be produced in the Americas. She Rode Horses... opens with a press night on Monday March 24 (previews today, March 20-23) running through April 12 at the Thick House in San Francisco's Potrero Hill.

FENCES, ARTHUR AND THE TALE OF THE RED DRAGON, STELLA & LOU and More Set for People's Light's 40th Anniversary Season

People's Light & Theatre has announced its 40th Anniversary Season that celebrates the passion and artistry that created and sustained our company. The season includes one world premiere, two regional premieres, and one Philadelphia premiere. Nationally acclaimed artists Mary McDonnell, David Strathairn, and Victor Williams will join longtime company members and various newcomers on our stages. They will perform iconic works by August Wilson, Anton Chekhov, and Neil Simon, new plays by Bruce Graham, Bill Cain, and Jessica Dickey, and our new holiday panto by Pete Pryor and Samantha Bellomo. We will transport audiences to Merlin's Middle Ages, Ranyevskaya's changing Russia, 19th & 21st Century Gettysburg, and Lou's Bar in today's South Philly.

The Playwrights' Center to Present Reading of Winter Miller's New Play SEED, 4/7

The Playwrights' Center presents a reading of Core Writer Winter Miller's new play SEED, directed by M. Graham Smith, on Monday, April 7, at 7 p.m., as the last event in the Center's 2013-14 Ruth Easton New Play Series. The reading is free and open to the public. The Playwrights' Center is located at 2301 E. Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis.

Aurora Theatre Company Announces GAP Winners

Berkeley's Aurora Theatre Company announces the four plays chosen as prize winners by a committee of local directors for the ninth annual Global Age Project (GAP), the company's new works initiative that promotes the creation of forward-looking theater: #therevolution by Kristoffer Diaz; Technicolor Life by Jami Brandli; Sagittarius Ponderosa by MJ Kaufman; and Welcome Home by Stephen Brown. The selected GAP plays will be presented as staged readings in a four-week festival at the Aurora Theatre, Mondays, February 10-March 3, 7:30pm, coinciding with the company's fully-staged Bay Area Premiere of Johnna Adams' provocative new play, Gidion's Knot (January 31-March 2), directed by Jon Tracy.

Florida Rep to Present MY THREE ANGELS, 12/3-22

This hilarious and touching story is perfect for the whole family and plays in the Historic Arcade Theatre Dec. 6-22 with four nearly sold out preview performances on Dec. 3-5.
