Tony Award-winner Donna McKechnie is the standby for the lead role of Claire Zachannassian in The Visit, currently playing on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45th Street). The actress recently spoke to the New York Post about acting as understudy for leading lady Chita Rivera.

"I'm so grateful to receive this wonderful acknowledgement for THE VISIT.  Broadway is my home and I'm so happy to be back in this terrific musical written by my dear friends John Kander, Fred Ebb and Terrence McNally, directed by the incomparable John Doyle and choreographed by the dazzling Graciela Daniele.  How lucky am I to have such great friends and co-star with the phenomenal Roger Rees.  I share all these tributes with our extraordinary company who put their hearts and souls into this piece every day."

The company of Broadway's The Visit gathered in the studio today, April 27th, to record the musical's original cast album. The Visit is the final musical ever written by legendary Oscar Award, Grammy Award and Tony Award-winning composer John Kander and his writing partner lyricist Fred Ebb, before Mr. Ebb passed away. Produced by the Emmy Award-winning and Grammy nominated producer Michael Croiter (Matilda, Big Fish, Heathers), The Visit album will be released June 26th, 2015. George Takei, who will soon be making his Broadway debut in 'Allegiance' next Fall took in Kander & Ebb's new musical 'The Visit' and made a backstage visit to congratulate Chita Rivera after the show. The two shared a 'trekkie' moment in her dressing room. Tomorrow the cast goes into the recording studio to record the original cast album which will be out in June. On her Sunday off from Broadway's IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU, Tyne Daly went to see her friend Chita Rivera in THE VISIT at the Lyceum Theater and congratulated her (after jumping to her feet for the standing ovation) backstage in her dressing room after the show. A rush policy was announced today for the new Broadway musical The Visit, for students to witness legends doing what made them legendary in this momentous event that is history in the making. Rush tickets are $29.
