Chicago Children's Theatre has launched a unique series of community engagement projects with schools and children's service organizations in or near Chicago's West Loop - exciting examples of what's to come in January when Chicago's largest professional theater devoted to children and families opens its first-ever permanent home, Chicago Children's Theatre, The Station, in the neighborhood's former 12th District Police Station, 100 S. Racine Avenue.

Greenhouse Theater Center will continue its Solo Celebration! Series with the world premiere of Brett Neveu's haunting drama HER AMERICA (formerly titled MISS AMERICA), starring veteran Chicago and Broadway actress Kate Buddeke and directed by Linda Gillum.

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble announces its 2017 Season, 'The Mind/Body Connection.' The season includes three new plays linked under this mind/body connection and told from distinctly female perspectives. These bold works explore how we separate our primal, instinctive physical beings from our intellectual and emotional selves. The season will be performed at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N. Ridge Avenue in Chicago.

Lookingglass Theatre Company continues its Season with Mr. and Mrs. Pennyworth, written and directed by Ensemble Member Doug Hara. Mr. and Mrs. Pennyworth runs December 7, 2016 - February 19, 2017.

The Public Theater announced complete casting today for TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS, based on the acclaimed book by best-selling author Cheryl Strayed and adapted for the stage by Academy Award-nominated writer Nia Vardalos, with direction by Thomas Kail. This richly funny, uplifting new show is co-conceived by Marshall Heyman, Thomas Kail, and Nia Vardalos and will also feature Vardalos as the anonymous online advice columnist 'Sugar.'

The Old Globe today announced it will present the fourth annual New Voices Festival-with a new moniker: the Powers New Voices Festival, a weekend of readings of new American plays by professional playwrights, playing January 13 - 15, 2017.

Produced by North Coast Repertory Theatre, HIS ROYAL HIPNESS LORD BUCKLEY begins performances tonight, December 6, for a limited engagement through Sunday, January 1. Steep Theatre will present the first professional U.S. production of Tony nominee and Olivier Award-winning playwright Mike Bartlett's Earthquakes in London, opening January 26, 2017. Steep's production opens on the heels of another Chicago production of this enormously exciting playwright's work, the critically-acclaimed King Charles III at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. Earthquakes will be helmed by one of Chicago's most exciting talents, Steep Ensemble Member and Jeff Award-winning director Jonathan Berry.  Berry recently directed Steppenwolf Theatre's Constellations, and, over the years, has consistently produced some of Steep's most notable shows, including Season 15's Posh by Laura Wade, which won the Non-Equity Jeff Award for Best Ensemble, and was nominated for Best Director and Best Production. 

Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber have announced the final extension of Porchlight's 22nd season opener, the multi-Tony Award-winning In The Heights, now playing through Saturday, Dec. 31, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, book by Quiara Alegria Hudes.
