On May 31st, OperaDelaware will offer two performances of its new production of The Three Little Pigs, a one-act opera featuring the music of Mozart to retell the tale that is familiar to all children.

Oakland University's music program will put on a fully staged production of "L'incoronazione di Poppea" by Claudio Monteverdi, with a libretto by Giovanni Francesco Busenello. The opera was first performed in Venice in 1643 during the Carnival season. It tells the story of Poppea, mistress of the Roman emperor Nero, and her rise to empress. This early work, which was rediscovered in the late 19th century after being lost for more than 200 years, will be sung in Italian with English supertitles.

San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM), Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Sonoma State University's Green Music Center today announced The National Brass Ensemble Project, a partnership formed to present a newly created group, the National Brass Ensemble, in a week-long residency taking place June 9 - 14, 2014 in Rohnert Park and San Rafael, California. The Ensemble, a singular collection of musicians from across the United States, features 24 leading brass players and two percussionists from the Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland, Detroit Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia and San Francisco Symphony orchestras.
