This March, Chicago Philharmonic travels back in time to perform music from and inspired by the 1920s with sensational guest soloist Aldo Lo?pez- Gavila?n in The Roaring Twenties. Headlining the program is George Gershwin's American smash, Rhapsody in Blue, complete with bustling piano solos and the iconic opening clarinet glissando. Gershwin often called this boisterous piece a tribute to the American spirit, calling it "a sort of musical kaleidoscope of America, of our vast melting pot, of our unduplicated national pep, of our metropolitan madness."
The Wick Theatre will present the timeless musical comedy Crazy for You, one of the most entertaining shows of all time--a musical feast that showcases more than 20 Gershwin songs and recreates the golden era of the 1930's follies-style lavish production numbers. The Gershwins s'wonderful musical My One and Only tap dances its way onto the Wagner College Theatre Mainstage from February 21-March 3, 2019, under the direction of Ann Neiman (WCT's 42nd Street and Into the Woods), with choreography by John Scacchetti (Broadway's 42nd Street and Gypsy revivals) and music direction by David Sisco (WCT's Hair and La Cage aux Folles).

Mark Markham, a pianist who is equally at home as a soloist, collaborator with some of the world's most esteemed singers, a vocal coach and a jazz pianist, will be heard in a program that showcases his versatility as one of the world's finest artists of his generation. The breadth of his repertoire will be heard on his innovative program titled My Songs without Words taking place on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at The Church of St. Ignatius Loyola on its Caritas benefit series. Caritas is the Latin word for charity and all proceeds from this concert will be given directly to charities that address social justice concerns. Now, Felder captures the life and music of Impressionist composer Claude Debussy, a visionary who proclaimed nature his religion, creating music of ravishing beauty, color, and compassion, from the sweeping "La mer" to the evocative "L'apres-midi d'un faune" and the mystical "Clair de lune." Intertwined with Debussy's story, Felder for the first time shares his own deeply personal connection to the City of Light.
San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego REP) has announced the return of San Diego's beloved artist, Hershey Felder with his latest smash hit celebrating the world's greatest composer, Beethoven. Following his triumphs as Piotr Tchaikovsky and Irving Berlin in 2017-2018, the brilliant Hershey Felder will bring Ludwig van Beethoven to life through the eyes of a Viennese doctor who spent his boyhood by the Maestro's side in Beethoven. Directed by Joel Zwick, performances of Hershey Felder, Beethoven run February 21 - March 24, 2019, at the Lyceum Stage Theatre. Tickets start at $25 and are currently on sale to the general public. Most of us over a certain age know several, but we might not always connect each one to Berlin. We always know he was responsible for 'White Christmas', of course, and 'God Bless America', but you might only know that 'I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm' was written by one of those names...Cole Porter perhaps, or Jerome Kern.
