The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) announced today that renowned actor and humanitarian Sean Penn will be presented with the fifth annual Joel Siegel Award at the 17th annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards. The award will be presented by fellow actor and 13-time Critics' Choice Award nominee George Clooney. The ceremony will air live on VH1 on Thursday, January 12 at 8:00 PM ET/PT.

After delivering its sixth consecutive best year ever across all platforms and ranking No. 11 among all cable entertainment networks with adults 18-49; Bravo Media announced today it will increase the network's original programming by an additional 25 percent in 2012, marking a 100 percent increase since 2008.

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced today the motion picture and long-form television nominations for the 23rd Annual Producers Guild Awards. The categories include: The Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures; The Producers Guild of America Producer of the Year Award in Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures; and The David L. Wolper Producer of the Year Award in Long-Form Television. The documentary film category and other television category nominations were already announced by the Guild in December 2011.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed this morning that George Clooney will lead Dustin Lance Black's Prop 8 play, '8' in the show's LA premiere at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre on March 3, 2012. The show premiered with an all-star cast including Bob Balaban, Ellen Barkin, Matt Bomer, Campbell Brown, Anthony Edwards, K. Todd Freeman, Morgan Freeman, Jayne Houdyshell, Cheyenne Jackson, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Larry Kramer, Christine Lahti, Ken Leung, John Lithgow, Rory O'Malley, Rob Reiner, Ben Rosenfield, Kate Shindle, Yeardley Smith, Stephen Spinella and Bradley Whitford on Broadway on September 19, 2011 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre.

The film will based on David Bianculli's book entitled 'Dangerously Funny: The Uncensored Story of The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour'.

Not a Broadway season goes by without a soap star dipping their toe in the Chicago pool at the Ambassador Theatre-so well oiled is that bare-bones revival that it was able to survive the placement of Ashlee Simpson. It's become a petri dish for stunt casting experiments. A few blocks north, at the Circle in the Square Theatre, heartthrob Hunter Parish-he gained notoriety for 'playing' dense on Showtime's Weeds-is dancing around as the lord and savior in Godspell.
